I have a theory that video games have a requirement that any platformer put into production must have a synopsis that makes you question the person telling you about it. Go ahead try it. Take any platformer on this list, and try to explain what it is about to someone who doesn't play games.

As weird as the genre is, we still love it, and some of the games certainly stand out more than others. In this list take a look at some of the strangest platformerℱs of🗹 the 2000s. These entries are sure to send you into a spiral of nostalgia, whether you want to or not.

10 Conker's Bad Fur Day

Conker With Guns

This first entry on our list barely saw the light of day, due to its scandalous content. The idea was a gꦰreat one though: Place a cute character into an animated world and have him swear, drink, and engage in any adult activity he can get his hands on.

Conker is a sassy and foul-mouthed squiജrrel on forced into a quest against his will. You see, the Panther Kin💝g has a table leg missing from his table, and so it is wobbly. Logically, he sends his soldier out to get a red squirrel to be used as a new table leg. I told you - strange.

9 Frogger: The Great Que👍st ✅

Frogger With a deranged Cow

Do you remember what everyone was asking for in 2001? It was to make the old arcade cabinet Frogger into a 3D action-adventure🍌 game, right? No? Well someone at Konami seemed to think people were foaming at the mouth for this game.

In case you were wondering, no one wanted this game, and the reviews reflect this. It's a weird concept, made even weirder by the storyline. You see, Frogger no longer needs to simply cross a street, now he needs to kiss a princess to become a prince. While pursuing this quest he meets fairies, and goblins... for some reason.

8 ඣ Psychonauts ꧂

Some of you will remember Psychonauts fondly, while others will only know the series 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:from the recent reboot. Eithe🎐r way, you know all too well the unhinged humo🅷r and plot points contained in this series.

For those of you who don't know, the main character, Rasputin, escaped the circus to become a government agent who uses psionic abilities to defeat evil. That's a very, very condensed explanation of the game, but even from that, you can see how out-there the concept is.

7 ♉ Tak And The Powe♋r Of JuJu

Tak And The Power Of JuJu has some of the most unusual art assets of all time. The characters seem to be loosely inspired by Native American cultures, with an emphasis on early nomadic humans who relied on magic and shamans to guide the tribe. The whole thing is so unique it can't really be pinned on a single historical culture.

The story is just as unique. Your tribe's greatest warrior has been turned into a sheep, and your goal is to turn him human again, so he can become the great hero of destiny. Of course, by fulfilling all these tasks, you accidentally become the destined hero, while communing with death gods and imprisoned demons.

6 Whiplash

Spanx the Weasel carrying Redmond the Rabbit through an animal testing facility

A slightly darkeꦕr entry on this list, Whiplash follows Spanx the Weasel and Redmond the Rabbit, who are chained together and try to escape an animal testing facility. Though the synopsis is rather dark, the game is overall, lighthearted, and funny.

The player only controls the weasel, while the rabbit can be used as a weapon. Don't worry it gets worse. The rabbit can also be shoved into electrical outlets to be electrified, set on fire, frozen, and irradiated in order to solve puzzles. This game is strange to be sure, but it received very good reviews.

5 Scaler

Which came first, the Spyro or Scaler? Luckily, this philosophical question has an answer - it's Spyro. Now, it is unfair to say that Scaler is a lazy copy of Spyro, though he does share some definite character design elements of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:titular purple dragon.

Scaler is actually more like a chameleon, who can shift forms to give him different abilities. Scaler started out as a human boy who 𝔉was tossed into a mul🧜tidimensional wormhole, turning him into a blue reptile. Now he must unite with his long-lost father (who is also an extradimensional lizard now) in order to stop a group of lizard men from taking over every dimension.

4 Zapper

Zapper the grasshopper charging up an electric attack

Zapper is a game that I feel w🔯ent underappreciated in its time. Zapper is a hot-headed cricket who has the ability to control electricity through his antennae. He uses this ability to fight as well as to solve puzzl🀅es in his adventure.

Zapper's story starts right where you would expect: With the cable going out. After the TV shuts off, Zapper grabs his brother, a grub, and places him on the antenna of the TV in hopes of getting his show back. During this, a magpie steals Zapper's brother, and he must set off after him.

3 Jak A꧒nd Daxter: The Precursor Legacy 🥂

A screenshot of the Lurker Shark from Jak and Daxter with Jak in its mouth.

Much like Tak, Jak and Daxter takes place in a strang♊e world that cannot really be compared to anything else 🎃out there. It happens in a world populated by elf-like beings, and the central power of this world is a plasma-like substance known as Eco.

There are all kinds of Eco. Green🅷 gives health, Red increases offensive capabilities, Black tends to mutate life, and Blue Eco is basically electricity. The game consist♑s of fighting Black Eco monsters and taking a source of one of the colored Ecos to sealed doors or mechanisms to complete puzzles.

2 🌊 🐓 Shadow The Hedgehog

Shadow The Hedgehog - Shadow on a Bike

I'm sure many of you will remember this game. Whether you remember it fondly, or as a joke is up in the air. Shadow The Hedgehog follows 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the edgy, brooding antihero of the Sonic universe, to achieve any goal he desires. The point of ⛦the game is that Shadow has lost his memories, and it is up to the player to decide whether he is good or bad.

The weird thing about this game is the target audience. More specifically, it doesn't have one. It's not Sonic fans, because it is mostly an open-world game with little opportunity for speed. It's not kids because Shadow regularly picks up guns and shoots people. In one ending he kills Eggman - he puts a bullet between the dude's eyes. Who was this game for?

1 Malice

Malice standing before a fearful tree spirit

Where to begin with this one? You are a goddess named Malice. That's somewhat normal. The game opens by having your head bitten off by a giant Dog God. Then you go to Hell, and Death says you don't belong there because you are a goddess, so he sends you back to reality.

Then, the Metal God gives you a giant hammer so that you can hunt down Dog God and bludgeon him to death with it. Yeah, this game is about as out there as you can get, and the many characters and enemies you meet along the way will only cement this strangeness.Next: 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Platformers Every Gamer Needs To Play
