's World Tour mode reveals that Ryu isn't very good with a smartphone, as he asks the player to teach him how to use stickers and generally texts like a boomer.
The biggest new feature in Street Fighter 6 is World Tour, a mode that lets players create their own unique street fighter and get to know every single fighter on the roster. It's like a self-insert fanfic in all of the best ways and really does a lot to make Street Fighter's roster feel more like characters, especially compared to Street Fighter 5's infamously bad post-launch story mode.
By far the best thing about World Tour is how unafraid it is to have a little fun, which can be seen with all of the references to other games, easter eggs, and conversations with characters. We already 💟talked about how Street Fighter 6 shows that Chun-Li is more than aware of people star🍰ing at her "thick" thighs, but it's also got some great moments with Ryu, who hasn't been able to master a phone like he has street fighting.
Around the halfway point of World Tour, you're instructed to go to Japan and find a legendary fighter who, of course, turns out to be Ryu. Once you interact with him and battle him once, you'll get to enlist as his student. Similarly to how the rest of the masters in the game work, using Ryu's specials and moveset will raise your bond with him, which in turn gives you some special conversations.
After getting to a certain level, Ryu will note that he actually has a smartphone that he was given by a friend (presumably Ken) but that he doesn't use it much. He gives you his number and resolves to learn how to use it, resulting in one of the funniest moments in the whole game. , once you leave Ryu he'll begin texting you, starting by signing off all his messages with "Sincerely, Ryu", which you can either tell him not to do, or encourage him that he's getting better.
Ryu's next text conversation is even better, as he'll show that he's gotten used to texting but admits that he's having trouble hitting the buttons (likely because his hands are so big) and is using a touch screen pen to help him type. He'll then say that he should ask someone to help him improve and that the "answer lies in the heart of the internet". Things get even funnier after this, as Ryu starts overusing stickers and even manages to change his profile picture.
As pointed out by Redditor sbrockLee, this isn't a new thing for Ryu's character. , eventually taking half an hour to send a few messages over. At least he's considerably improved by the time of Street Fighter 6.
