Japanese RPGs and Western RPGs put the player in the shoes of a protagonist that usually has some hidden destiny that they are yet to discover. These tropes are usually portrayed in a hero that's suffering from amnesia or a young farm boy or girl unaware of the huge adventure that awaits them.
