168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Below Zero is the icy sequel to indie survival game, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Subnautica. Players return to planet꧒ 4546b as R🦹obin Ayou, determined to discover the mysterious causes of her sister's untimely death on said planet. And while there, Robin uncovers many great secrets about the world and the alien race of the Architects.
But with so many secrets, there's a high chance that players may have missed one or two hidden, subtle things scattered about the waters. Be it lore, c♑reatures, items, orಌ resources, there's still plenty of secrets in Sector Zero. And so, here's a small list of some of those secrets.
10 Pretty Sus 𝔍
Alterra left behind many logs of their time on planet 4546b. Among those many logs are recordings of their personnel – Sister Samantha among them – playing a game called "Alien Intruder." The general gis𝔍t of the game is simple: there's an alien intruder hidden among scientists, and said scientists have to figure out who's the faker before they're all killed or converted.
Sounds oddly familiar, right? But there are plenty of variations of the find-the-imposter type of games. Given Subnautica's overt sci-fi themes, though, and the game's other rules of scientist and intruder tasks, it perhaps rings a bit too similar to another beloved game: Among Us. Funny coincidence or purposeful Easter Egg?
9 😼 Mercury II
The original game made it obvious that the Aurora wasn't th🐼e first human ship to be shot down. The plots tied to the Sunbeam and Degasi prove that. However, Below Zero shows that the Quarantine Enforcement Platform has a fantastic range, given the existence of the Mercury II.
Indeed, logs found around th♉e wrecks of this ship indicate it met the same fate as the other ships. That, alone, isn't too surprising... But its age is. From both hints in the logs and the ship's decay, it's obvious that it crashed long before the Degasi or Aurora, somewhere between 30 to 100 years﷽ prior. It's a mystery as to why no one investigated its disappearance, or the planet, sooner.
8 The 🍰Long-haul
Unlike the first game, Below Zero added a couple of NPCs to its rosters of characters. Among which is Marguerit Maida, a woman who should be familiar to players of the first game. After all, though never seen, she's one of t✱he three survivors of the Degasi crash, alongside Bart and Paul Torgal. She was originally thought to be lost to the planet like the father and son duo were.
But as the game shows, Marguerit is obviously alive. There are a few PDAs scattered about the🐽 map and her base, which explain how she came to Sector Zero from the Crater. This feat becomes more impressive, considering how long she's been on the planet. After all, the Degasi crashed ten years prior to the first Subnautica's events, and Below Zero takes place two years after that. Surviving for over a decade alone is no easy feat.
7 🐲 Full Commodities ✤
Then again, Margueritte's survival becomes a lot more believable, once players see the full extent of her base. This can only be done once they complete her questline and return to it. Whereas her personal chambers were once blocke✤d off by her pet Snowstalker, this time they'll be free to explore.
And within these chambers are a few special features that can be scanned and added to players' own bases. Namely, these are the Sink, Small Stove, Shower, and Toilet. That's right – player'ꦓs can not only build the base of their dreams, but build it in luxury, bathroom, kitchen, andཧ all! (Though, they serve no functional purpose.)
6 Trivalves
Aside from human NPCs, though, players also have the option of acquiring a pet or two while in these icy waters. Where the first Subnautica allowed players to acquire 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the amiable Cuddlefish, Below Zero has the Trivalve.
These friendly fish come in variants of blue and yellow, and like𝓡 their predecessor, can only be ha💃tched from eggs. There are six eggs scattered about the map:[tldr_position]
- 2 yellow eggs in the Deep Lilypads Cave
- 2 blue eggs in the West Arctic
- 2 blue eggs also in the Arctic Spires
5 ღ 🥂 Sam & Danielle
Prior to Robin's arrival and Sam's death, said older sister worked as a part of Alterra, alongside a team of fellow scientists, to research (and/or perhaps colonize) 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:planet 4546b. Among both Sam's many messages to Ro🐎bin and the PDAs scattered about the map, players learn exactly how Alterra's time on the planet went.
Among these logs, Sam indicates the many relationships she forged with her fellow personnel. One person, however, sticks out: Danielle Valenti. Though left vague in ℱher personal logs to Robin, Sam indicates she entered a relationship with one of her coworkers. It's only once findings several abandoned PDAs that players learn said coworker was Danielle, and that the two fell out due to issues surrounding the Kharaa. What happened to Danielle after Sam's death an💧d Alterra's departure is currently unknowns nor are her feelings about Sam's passing.
4 𓂃 Phasegates
Several PDAs around🦩 the map♏ reveal that the Aurora was traveling near 4546b to build a phasegate for interstellar travel. And while the planet itself was abandoned by Alterra come Below Zero, the company is still seeking to build one nearby, as originally intended.
This, itself, isn't too amazing, until the very end of the game. Small spoilers ahead, but the last few scenes of the game have Robin Ayou and Architect Alan departing the planet to return to his Homeworld. A key part of that process, however, involves the two traveling through several phasegates. This shared method of space travel seems more than coincidence, especial♚ly considering Alterra's fascination with Architects, and said species' previous encounters with humanity.
3 🍸 Secret Names ꧒
Pengling Spybots are one of many tools added to players' arsenal for survival. These little robots can navigate and collect resources in tight spaces, alongside 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Snowstalker fur, and are ℱuseful for land exploration. Plus they can take pictures!
But when building these Spybots, they'll be assigned one 1 of 16 random names. Most are generic naming schemes, but there are several with deeper meanings behind✱ them:
- PengVee
- PengBip
- PengJack
- PenGrin
What's so s🎶pecial about these names? Well, they're actually small nods to the four developers behind Pengwings, Penglings, and the Spybots!
2 YouT🃏ube of the Future
Part of Subnautica and Below Zero's succeꩲss is due to gameplay and promotions from big YouTube and Twitch gaming communities. The first game had a buildable doll Easter Egg likened after YouTuber Markiplier. Below Zero has a much more subtle Easter Egg of YouTuber Jacksepticeye.
There's no specific item designed after him. However, when player♋s first craft and place a coffee machine inside their bases, the PDA will use a specific phrase: "Ah, the sweet scent of dirty bean water." This term is how Jack specifically refers to the beverage and given his extensive coverage of the games, it's a clever little dedication.
1 𒊎 A Whole Different Story ꦚ
Depending on when players purchased the Early Access or complete version of the game, they'll be extremely familiar with Below Zero's plot, characters, and creatures. However, for those who had access to theꦬ earliest versions of the game, they'll remember an entirely different story, one where sister ཧSam was alive, the Kharaa played a different role, and there was a greater tie to the first game.
While the game underwent a drastic rewrite, there are still hints of it hidden throughout the current versio🍎n. From the existence of Outpost Zero to the Satellite in orbit (originally a space station called the Vesper) and even hidden console commands that can access both assets and scripts from the original story. While what the game currently offers has its merits, so too does exploring what it could have been.
