168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Suဣicide Squad: Kill the Justice League sets its stall out with its very title, but can't quite commit to the bit. Of the classic seven heroes in the Justice League, both Aquaman and Martian Manhunter are nowhere to be seen. Manhunter isn't the biggest of names, with some Justice League line-ups replacing him with Green Arrow, but the decision to cut Aquaman in what's already a short game hints at the fact it was designed for battle passes and events and endless empty engagement, not enjoyment. However, of all the Justice League, it's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Wonder Woman generating tꦿhe most controversy, and with good🌃 reason.

Despite there only being five of the Justice League present in a game all about killing them, you only fight four of them, with Wonder Woman able to evade Brainiac's control. For many people, this is the start of the problem, but I don't see it that way. Having one of the supers on your side while you take on this battle is a solid narrative choice, and Wonder Woman is the most sensible. It can't be Flash or Green Lantern because they're too small fry. It can't be Superman because he's the big threat and needs to be the last boss.

Aquaman and Green ꦿArrow would also be too small fry, while ꩵMartian Manhunter is too unknown to the general public for it to have an impact.

That leaves us with Wonder Woman or Batman. Both would have worked, but fighting and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:killing Batman after playing as him throughout the Arkham series is far bolder than him being the only one you don't have to kill because 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:your favourit𒉰e characters ꦚdeserve to live forever. I'm always inclined to give marks for boldness, so tagging in Wonder Woman feels like the right move. Unfortunately, it's a move Rocksteady does very little with.

Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn in Kill the Justice League

Wonder Woman appears fleetingly and shows general distaste for the Suicide Squad, as you might expect. She also believes she can save the Justice League, rather than kill them, also as you might expect. These are the only two things I can say about her personality or story a🦋rc.

While all the other heroes are highlighted by their flaws dialled up by Brainiac (Flash's cocky showiness, Batman's cynical arrogance), Wonder Woman just has nothing going on. The reason we have so many Evil Superman stories is because Good Superman stories have to be tender and open and heartfelt to achieve any intrigue, while Evil Superman naturally has an angle. Wonder Woman's story here is Good Superman without the tender, open, heartfelt messaging required to sustain it.

Kill the Justice League is the latest in a long line of Evil Supermans

Her being so boring wouldn't be such an issue if the game itself didn't pretend she was so interesting. Her death comes at the end of a clash with Superman where the characters learn he's weak to kryptonite - this is surely not new information. This death is also juxtaposed by Amanda Waller injured in the background - Waller screams at the Suicide Squad to follow her orders to the letter and aid her own injuries, but the foursome instead give an impromptu eulogy to Wonder Woman and offer her a hero's burial.

I don't have any issue with Boomerang attempting to urinate on Flash, or on Green Lantern being stripped down to his silly Green Lantern boxers, and I've already praised the fate of Batman - marks, as ever, for boldness. But I think the 180 on the reaction to the death of Wonder Woman is undeserved. In a longer game with more narrative variety less focussed on rushing to the endgame for battle pass shenanigans, Wonder Woman's last stand might have meant something. The villains giving her respect in death after fighting by her side is the sort of heartfelt tenderness a Good Superman story can have, but she first needs to fight by the villain's side for it to mean anything. Looking at the reaction Dame Aylin has garnered from Baldur's Gate 3, Suicide Squad's Wonder Woman feels limp and lifeless long before she's killed by being foolish enough to tackle Superman head on.

Wonder Woman with a raised sword in Kill the Justice League

The much shared squad bios is a little bit of Rocksteady shooting itself in the foot too, presumably with a Legendary pistol that does 13 percent more damage to foot infused enemies. Each member of the League has two bios - one by the squad themselves, and one by Lex Luthor. Wonder Woman, as she's not a foe, only has a fawning one from Luthor and it's oddly positioned against how mean spirited the ones for Flash (written by Boomerang) and Green Lantern (written by Deadshot) are. Superman's is written by King Shark and therefore less bitter, but these bios should have been the opportunity to celebrate how well realised these characters are. Instead, the positioning of them highlights Wonder Woman's apparent position as the favourite.

Her being the favourite isn't really an issue - writers who love the characters they're writing about can create the most moving stories. But it leads to Wonder Woman being side-lined for everything bar the biggest moments, and as a result, she hasn't earned them when they come.

For a game so built around such an edgy concept, it seems to duck the issue with Wonder Woman, and a character of this stature and legacy deserves better. Fans seem to think Batman has been ins꧑ulted by being unceremoniously snuffed out, but it seems far more insulting to Wonder Woman to never trust her with anything of val෴ue.
