Season 1 of the game's promised post-launch content was a chance to turn those fortunes around though, but Rocksteady has allowed that chance to slip through its fingers in pretty dramatic fashion.

One of the biggest parts of Season 1 was the introduction of The Joker, a popular villain that many promised to try out once Season 1 dropped, to give Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice another opportunity to leave a lasting impression. Unfortunately, those that have gone to try out The Joker are less than impressed, as t🌠he character has been locked behind a new progression system that forces players to grind through old missions for several hours.

Future updates will dilute Kill the Justice L🔯eague's strengths and heighten its flaws

To unlock The Joker as a playable character, you need to beat Braniac again, but progression has been reset with Season 1's new map. To reach Braniac again, you need to get your new "Fear Episode Rank" to level 35, and players are stuck grinding through old content just to get their hands on The Joker, as no new missions have been added. Warner Bros. has been incredibly generous to those who don't fancy grinding out levels though, and has given players the option to purchase The Joker outright for $10.

This is despite Rocksteady claiming before the release of Season 1 that all po🏅st-launch content for Suicide Squad would be completely free for the fir🌺st year, and would be "generous" to boot. Sure, you don't have to pay for The Joker at all if you don't mind grinding through old content, but many feel like they've been bamboozled by Rocksteady, as it was expected characters would be readily available with each season and wouldn't have to be earned in this manner.

For a lot of people, this was the last disappointment they needed from Suicide Squad to delete the game and never come back. Even for those that don't mind the update and are fine with The Joker's unlock requirements, Season 1 has objectively failed to become the second chance that fans and Rocksteady itself were hoping for. Whether or not there's going to be enough players around for Season 2, we'll have to wait and see.
