Super Mario Wonder starts o🌃ff strong, but which level is the best in the first world?

Avoiding a focus on story was intended in most Mario games; in spite of this, there are tidbits and details about some characters that make them more interesting than others. One of the best examples of this is Bowser's son, Bowser Jr. So, what makes Bowser Jr. one of the more interesting Mario characters, and has he ever been the main character?

Bowser Jr.'s Backstory

Bowser Jr., or as he is known in Japan, Koopa Jr. has been a mainstay of the Super Mario series since the early 2000s. He was introduced as a secondary villain in the 3D Mario games, but slowly became more associated with 2D Mario games where he often shows up as a mini boss y♋ou will fight multiple times throughout the New Super Mario Bros. series.

Like any character of even some importance in the Mario series, Bowser Jr. has also regularly appeared in spin-off content and sub-series, and this 🍌is where🍌 his character usually gets more of a chance to shine.

The Mario RPGs especially are where the series gets to put a little more time towards storytelling. The son of King Koopa can be recognized for his resemblance to a miniature version of his father, with🍨 the same colour scheme, she𒁏ll, and hair colour.

However, he has nearly always sported his bandana, which has featured a couple of designs 𝔍since his introduction, and over the years, he tendsꩲ to ride in the Koopa Clown Car as his signature way of getting around.

Bowser Jr. also often gets mistaken for Baby Bowser, since th𓆉eir designs are so similar, but while Bowser Jr. is the son of Bowser, Baby Bowser is the past version of Bowser who shows up as an antagonist in the Yoshi series, as well as Mario & Lui꧑gi Partners in Time.

The easiest way to tell the two apart is that Bowser Jr. has a drawing on his bandana, while Baby Bowser does not. While Bowser Jr. is shown to be young and bratty, he quite often poses quite a tough challenge tꦐo Mario or any of his other adversaries with some unique abilities.

He has been shown to cause havoc with his magic paintbrush that summons enemies and even changes his form so he can frame Mario. Since his debut, Bowser Jr.'s abilities have grown further away from his paintbrush, and towards a pint-sized version of his fathers, with shell attacks and fireballs.

More recently, Bowser Jr.'s fighting style has become tied to his Clown Car and more technologicalꦉ, but this is not exclusive.

Personality & Parenting

A common trait that we get to see of Bowser Jr. throughout even some of his lighter appearances, is how much he idolizes and looks up to his father. This is shown to manifest in wanting to do anything to please him or make him proud, as well as being lonely when he doesn't get his attention.

This loneliness is also a common trait, and often makes him one of the more sympathetic antagonistic figures in the series. In spit𓄧e of this, he is occasionally shown to work alongside his cousins/underlings, the Koopalings, but this can often cause more trouble between them than good.

While it is obvious who Bowser Jr.'s father is in his design and his name, his mother is a lot less obvious, and still left mostly unconfirmed. In multiple games, he is shown to look up to Kamek as a parental figure, and in some entries, it is ev♌en hinted that Peach could be his mother, but this is just shown to be a lie from Bowser.

The closest we have to an answer is when Miyamoto, one of the creators of the Super Mario series was asked in a video called 'Mario Myths with Mr Miyamoto' about Bowser Jr.'s mother, he simply pointed at himself as an answer. But, aside fromꦯ what we can onlyജ assume was a joke, the mother of Bowser Jr. remains a mystery.

Bowser Jr.'s Notable Appearances

The best way to put together all aspects of Bowser Jr., is to look through some of his most notable appearances. Since his introductions, he has shown in a wide variety of Mario projects, with some appearances being more substantial than others. So, let's look at some of the most important appearances of Bowser Jr.

Mainline

Bowser Jr. from Super Mario Sunshine Holding the Magic Paintbrush

The first game that features Bowser Jr. is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Sunshine, where Bowser Jr. takes the role as one of the main antagonists and is the catalyst of the game's plot. Mario is framed as being the cause of the graffiti that was found all around Isle Delfino, with multiple people witnessing him do it.

However, as the game progresses, you find the shadowy version of Mario that did the graffiti and after a confrontation, the identity of the villain is revealed to be Bowser Jr.

Bowser Jr. was using a magic paintbrush that was invented by Professor E. Gadd, another recurring Mario character, and this lent him supernatural abilities, like transforming into the shadow Mario, as well as crea🃏ting enemies and bosses🙈 for Mario to fight against.

It is revealed throughout the story that the reason Bowser Jr. is causing all the trouble for Mario is that Bowser has told him that Mario has kidnapped Peach, and that she is Bowser Jr.'s mother. After Bowser and Bowser Jr. are defeated, Bowser admits to his son that🍬 this was not true, but Bowser Jr. had worked it out already anyway.

It is not long until we see Bowser Jr. again, but this time, his role has a lot less narrative behind it, with him serving as one of the antagonists in New Super Mario Bros. DS. This started the tradition for a lot of Bowser Jr. appearances in mainline Super Mario games, where he takes the role of a secondary villain who will fight Mario at regular intervals throughout the worlds, based in towers or air𓆉ships.

The most interesting thing about his time in New Super Mario Bros. DS is how after dragging his father away after his defeat, he is shown to look at the camera and get angry at the player, effectively breaking the fourth wall and getting angry at you for playing the game.

Bowser Jr. also appears a few times throughout the first Mario Galaxy title, where he causes trouble for the plumber in an attempt to impress his father. This t𒈔ime, he usually just orders bosses to do his bidding, but there are a couple of encounters where he is commandeering an airship to attack alongside Kamek.

His fate at the end of Galaxy seems a little grim, falling into his father's sun, but luckily his survival is confirmed after the credits where we 🌃can see him safely playing in the Mushroom Kingdom.

He takes a much more active role in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, where he is the one to kidnap Peach at the start, working alongside the Koopalings. This is also the game where we sta✃rt to see Bowser Jr. consistently using the clown car with the Koopalings.

The clown car actually ends up being Bowser Jr. and his fathers' downfall in New Super Mario Bros. U (notably skipping New Super Mario Bros. 2, the only 'New' game he doesn't appear in) where he is present in the final fight with Bowser.

Here, you can actually defeat him and take coꦫntroᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚl of the flying clown car, and use this to attack Bowser in his final phase. The clown car is shown to work overtime after this, being piloted by Bowser Jr. to fly out himself, the Koopalings and his father after they are all defeated.

It isn't until the re-release of Super Mario 3D World, where Bowser Jr. is a playable character, but only as a player 2 assist option in the additional side-story Bowser's Fury. Here, Mario needs to help Bowser Jr. by collecting Cat Shines to free Bowser from his massive Kaiju-inspired rage form.

There isn't too much story with Bowser Jr. here, except it is interesting to see him come to Mario for help when Bowser is out of control. He is a charming addition that giggles at Mario when he takes ♍damage, but will gasp if he gets taken down. After freeing Bowser, he stops his father from attacking Mario, but roars at him inst🍰ead of thanking him.

But, signs of his gratitude are present with the drawings in the credits, and me𝔍ssages left after opening the game after finishing. Notably, if you manage to collect every Cat Shine, Bowser Jr. himself will get a cosmetic cat form as well.

In 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Wonder, there are far fewer airship and palace fights than usual, but, the Koopalings are on hiatus, with Bowser Jr. filling the gaps being a recurring boss fight. While his play style is similar to a standard out-of-clown-car Bowser Jr. boss fight, he uses a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:different Wonder Flower each time to switch up the fight to his advantage.

Whether this is flooding the stage, changing the terrain, or shifting him and Mario's size. When in his Wonder form, Bowser Jr.'s colour scheme and design changes, and this colour choice resembles an obscure side character from the series, Bowser's Brother, a secondary antagonist from Super Mario the Lost Levels. In Wonder we can see Bowser Jr. cause chaos all over the Flower Kingdom to try and ♑please his father𝓀.

Mario & Luigi Games

Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey - Mario, Luigi, Starlow, Bowser, Bowser Jr., Kamek, Morton, And Roy On A White Background

Bowser Jr. has had plenty of interesting misadventures throughout the spin-off Mario titles, but the sub-series where we get to see the most characterization from the Koopa-heir is the Mario & Luigi games, with one ti🍌tle, in particular, highlighting him.

Aside from the main story he gets, Bowser Jr. also plays a role in Mario & Luigi Dream Team, where he is an optional boss, and Mario & Luigi Paper Jam too. In Paper Jam, the crossover between the Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario series, Bowser Jr. ends up forming a close friendship with Paper Bowser Jr.

The pair work together throughout the game, bonding quickly since they are both lonely. They even consider destroying the book that bridges their worlds, so they do not have t🦋o separate agꦿain. Unfortunately for them Mario and co. are successful and after their defeat, they are separated in different dimensions once again.

The main focus Bowser Jr. gets in the Mario & Luigi series is in the remake of Mario & Luigi Bowser's Inside Story, which added a side story called Bowser Jr.'s Journey, which as you can imagine, features him as the protagonist. While it is a shorter story similar to Bowser's Fury, this time he is the main character, and is working parallel to the main story to help cure the Blorbs epidemic.

You see how his bratty side frustrates the Koopalings who end up abandoning him, and after a lecture from Kamek, he n⛦eeds to work to earn their trust back and defeat the villains. After his success, we see him try and prove to his father his bravery, but ends up mis-communicating.

However, in the post-game, it is revealed that Ludwig told Bowser of his son's bravery, and the two end up sparring, causing havoc in the castle.

Other Appearances

Outside of Mario & Luigi, Bowser Jr.'s bratty behaviour appears in plenty other spin-offs, whether it's competing alongside the Sonic cast at the Olympics, an antagonist in Mario & Rabbids, fighting in Smash, or helping free his father in Paper Mario and the Origami King.

However, one of his standout appearances isn't even in a game, but in promotional videos for the Switch from its launch period.

A highlight is the parental safety app video, which shows Bowser struggling to parent his game-obsessed son, but usin🔯g the Parent💞al Contols App to remotely control the Switch.

While it's a weird source of Bowser Jr. content, seeing a more casual portrayal of Bowser and Bowser Jr. ends up being a charming three-minute watch.
