Char🔯les Martinet ♑has retired from the role of Mario after 32 years, meaning that someone new is taking up the mantle in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Bros. Wonder. We still don't know who that is, and we won't until October, as Nintendo revealed we'll have to check the credits to find out.
"We'll let that play out and that'll be within the credits," Doug Bowser told at Nintendo Live 2023 (as reported by ). "People will learn who the new person is at that point in time, but we don't plan to make any announcement in advance of that."
That means the discovery of Mario's new voice actor will be made by whoever beats Wonder first. It's a race to uncover the new identity of the voice behind our favourite Italian plumber. There's also the new voice of Luigi to find, who Nintendo is also keeping under wraps. It's oddly mysterious, but 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Nintendo works in its own unique ways.
While Martinet has stepped away from the role of Mario, he hasn't stepped away from the character entirely. Nintendo gave him the job of Mario Ambassador, a role that it hasn't explained yet, and one that even Martinet doesn't fully understand.
"I am now, you might have seen the news, a Mario Ambassador," Martinet said. "I don't know what that is yet, I'm not retired as it were, but I'm an ambassador and, as we step forward into the future I will learn. In the meantime... I'm always an ambassador of Nintendo and Mario and all of these events because I just cherish every moment of it, and I hope your love of the games continues and grows the way mine does, so thank you so much."
Martinet is set to hold a video message with Shigeru Miyamoto at some point soon, so perhaps we'll get clarification as to what this role is. Perhaps Martinet is guiding the new Mario actor, or perhaps he will become the face of the Mario franchise at events - we'll have to wait and see.
Another point Martinet mentioned when asked about his new role is that he has not retired yet, something many have speculated about following the announcement that he had stepped away from the role of Mario. Whether that means he'll take any other voice roles in the future is uncertain. Perhaps he'll branch out into unexpected territory, stretching his chops as he did in Skyrim as Paarthurnax.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder launches on October 20, so we've just got over a month now before we find out who the new voice actor is.
