Flower Coins are those big purple ones that aren't far off from the other-colored bigger coins in past Mario games. As a modern rule, these tend to be worth more than mere collector status, and that carries forward in Super Mario Bros. Wonder.
What Are Flower Coins In Super Mario Wonder?
Flower Coins are the hexagonal purple coins you will encounter many times throughout your Super Mario Bros. Wonder travels. They'll add up quickly, so long as you're steadily snagging the ones worth ten, which are (unsurprisingly) a little harder to grab than their one-coin counterparts. It's relatively easy to have well over 500 of them at a given time, if you're not visiting the Poplin Shops where they're spent as Super Mario Bros. Wonder's primary form of currency.
When a Wonder Flower is activated, you'll sometimes find Flower Coins worth one-tenth, which is odd. Then again, Wonder Flowers are built on the word 'odd'.
Those Poplin Shops are filled with things to purchase with your Flower Coins, though the stock can vary between locations. Here's a list of purchasable stuff we've found:
- 1-Up Mushrooms, which add an extra life (or lives, for the bigger packages) to your tally.
- Standee Surprises, which nab you a Standee you've not yet acquired. These are helpful for other players if you engage in multiplayer, but serve no tangible purpose in single-player - they're collectibles.
- Badges, arguably the most important thing. You'll only acquire a percentage of the game's full list of Badges in this fashion, but they're well worth getting.
- Wonder Seeds, the other arguably most important thing. As with Badges, some - but not all - Wonder Seeds are found at Poplin Shops.
