There has been a recent discovery made by a fan going through the files of Super Mario Odyssey that suggests a costume was cut from the game. This costume may have been related to The Legend of Zelda series.

A Twitter user named Random Talking Bush has gone through the files of Super Mario Odyssey and a table that contains information about the positions of the various hats in the game. Each hat in Super Mario Odyssey has a selection of animations associated with them, one of which involves a line of code related to a "fix." One of these hat animations refers to "HeadMarioLink" which is placed among all of the costumes in the game. It's possible that this refers to a costume related to Link from The Legend of Zelda series.

There doesn't appear to be any costumes based on The Legend of Zelda series that can be found through normal means in Super Mario Odyssey. It's possible that the costume wa✨s cut at some point in dev🉐elopment and is no longer accessible.

The two biggest games during the Nintendo Switch's launch year were Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It stands to ♌reason that Nintendo might want to include some sort of crossover between the two games as a way of representing the incredible first year of 💧the Nintendo Switch.

We still don't know which Link outfit was cut from Super Mario Odyssey. It's possible that it was the light-blue attire worn by the Link from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as that costume is also being added to the Switch version of Hyrule Warriors. There is also a chance that it was going to be the classic green costume from the early Zelda titles that would have been featured.

A free update for Super Mario Odyssey will be available in February 2018. This update will bring new costum♒es to the game and a Luigi-based minigame for those who have completed the main story. It's possible that the Link costume is being saved for a later update, or as part of an upcoming paid DLC costume pack. Link is certainly high-profile enough for his costumes to be worth real money.
