's remake has purposefully kept in and recreated a design mistake from the original game that randomly changed the size and shape of Valentina's parrot.

Although the Switch remake of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars does add a few new things to the game like post-game rematches against bosses, some new ultimate weapons, and some altered combat mechanics, it mostly remains a very faithful recreation of the original SNES release, right down to fun easter eggs like the hidden item in Peach's room.

Remakes can sometimes fee🃏l purpo🍌seless, except when they fix the things about the original that sucked.

In fact, Super Mario RPG's remake is so lovingly faithful to the original game that it also purposefully recreates and keeps in some of the mistakes that could be found back in the SNES release. , who pointed out that a noticeable error in Valentina's design has been brought back nearly three decades later.

In the original version of Super Mario RPG, there's a bit of an oddity with one of the game's bosses, Valentina. For no clear reason, Valentina has two different models, one for when she's in the overworld and one for when the player is fighting her. There are some noticeable differences between the two as well, like her head being a different shape.

The strangest detail of all, though, is that the change in her head size also causes her parrot to get a similarly stretched-out look that's very different to how it looks in the overworld model. It seems that it's supposed to make the parrot look more angry and ready for battle, but it ends up giving it a bit of a goofy look.

Considering this is almost definitely a design mistake from the original game, you might think that Super Mario RPG's remake would fix it and have one model of Valentina instead of two with weird design differences. That's not the case, however, as the remake actually purposefully recreates this oddity and even makes it a bit more obvious.

Since I'm sure some Super Mario RPG fans are wondering - . If you don't know what I mean, that's probably for the best.

As you can see from dbMisadventure's tweet, the remake's version of Valentina keeps the two different models, and makes the parrot sitting on top of her head look even more different between the two models, with an unmistakably different head shape and wing size. In fact, it looks more like a pool float now than it does a parrot.

It woܫuld have been very easy for the developers to just put one Valentina model in there and keep it consistent, but by recreating the mistake on purpose it goes to show how much love they had for the SNES classic, quirks and all.
