Super Meat Boy Forever started life as a PC and Nintendo Switch exclusive. But now, the notoriously rage-inducing platforming seriesꩲ is continuing its life on Pl🏅ayStation and Xbox, with a wider release of its sequel.

The selling point this ♊time around is the variety of stages. The game boasts “thousands” of levels, according🍎 to developers Team Meat, who also claim that you can finish the game to completion several times without seeing a repeat stage.

“Super Meat Boy Forever ushers in Meat Boy for the new era, where his world has been fleshed out with close to 6000 hand-made levels that are endlessly remixed using our procedural algorithm, a huge variety of power-ups, and all sorts of secrets to discover”, said Team 👍Meat co-founder and programmer Tommy Refenes.

“Every replay will give you something brand new, and w༒ith all the optional challenges, Super Meat Boy Forever really can be played forever!”

PS4 and Xbox fans of Super Meat Boy will have been waiting a while for this sequel, and not just because ofಌ its timed-exclusivity. Super Meat Boy Forever began its long development back in 2014, initially planned to be a mobile exclusive. Production faltered when series creator Edmund McMillen left to work on his other IP, The Binding of Isaac. Development only resumed in 2017.

This lack of influence from the series creator may be felt by some fans𝕴, as the reviews for this title were slightly more mixed than before. The jury’s still out on this recent port, but the Switch release bagged a Metacritic score of 66/100. The original Super Meat Boy managed to score 84/100 on the same platform. One reason for this lower score could be the massive departure from the previous title’s gameplay, with Super Meat Boy Forever being an auto-runner. Players now just control regular jumpiꦏng and wall jumping.

Super Meat Boy Forever is available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.🍰 Interested fans can grab it for $19.99/£15.99/€15.99, with a 10% discount on 🀅launch week.
