A number of rides were suspended at Super Nintendo World this week after a stack of Goombas fell onto the track of the Yoshi's Adventure ride.
Super Nintendo World finally𝔍 opened in Osaka, Japan earlier this ye🤡ar. The Mario-themed corner of Japan's Universal Studios was supposed to open last year but its arrival was continually delayed thanks to the pandemic. Ongoing COVID issues in Japan have resulted in visitor numbers being limited and people who want to go to the park from outside of Japan being forced to wait.
The park was faced with a fresh problem this week, but hopefully, one that isn't as serious as it initially sounds. A stack of four Goombas fell from a great height and landed on the Yoshi's Adventure ride. It happened while the park was open, but not on a part of the ride where it could have hit and hurt any guests.
The video above shows park employees lifting the Goombas off the track and into a nearby tunnel. They clearly appear to be struggling with the statue, suggesting it is pretty heavy. Yoshi's Adventure ride was naturally shut down so the incident could be investigated. Apparently, other rides have also been suspended and investigated since.
It remains unclear what exactly knocked the Goombas loose and caused them to fall. It is currently typhoon season in Japan, making it entirely possible the more intense winds that hit the country at this time of year caused the incident. However, you would hope anyone involved in designing and building the park would have accounted for that. Work recently began on the park's first big expansion. Those itching to pay Super Nintendo World a visit, despite the loose Goombas, may have options in the future. Additional parks will be opening at Universal Studios in Florida and California. Work has already begun on the Hollywood park in California, and merch you can fin🗹d at t෴he park in Osaka can already be bought there.
