Superman is the first film in the rebooted DC cinematic universe, so director James Gunn hღas much to prove. However, it looks like the creative overhaul is already paying off, as Superman's first day in theatres has already made it a career high for Gunn.
Better yet, there's a good chance that it will outpace the last solo-Superman film, Man of Steel. As reported by , this is off the back of making $55 million in its first day, with the opening weekend takings projected t🍒o be in the range of $115-120 million.
Superman Is Already A Huge Success At The Box Office
Man of Steel was a great success ba💟ck in 2013, bringing in $116 million during its own opening weekend in the US. However, as long as 𓆏Superman isn't on the lower end of its projections, then it will be overtaken by this latest instalment.
One film that will be much har♈der to dethrone is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, as that took in $166 million꧒ at the domestic box office. After that, it all fell apart with the original run cut of Justice League, which opened to $93 million.
Whether or not Superman manages to speed past Man of Steel, it's definitely fair to say that the film is a success. It already took in the most during previews of any film this year, and it's set to be one of the best performing films of Gunns' career - not a bad feat after ✨leading the Guardians of the Galaxy series for Marvel.
This also shows that Superman wasn't harmed by the right-wing pushback against the film. This came after Gunn described the character of Superman as an immigrant, with cast members 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:doubling down on this sentiment🌱 at 𝕴the premiere.
Superman is in theatr♑es now, having premiered yesterday. It remains to be seen how m🌱uch it actually brings in during this opening weekend.
