When I was a kid, there was a Game Gear commercial where a man had to beat himself in the head to enjoy a Game Boy. People always got mad at each other if they liked 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Nintendo more than the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sega Genesis (or, if you’ll never see God’s light, Sega Mega Drive). I was so stupid that I made fun of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PlayStation when it came out, wrongly claiming it wouldn’t stand up to the upcoming 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Nintendo 64. So, all cards on the table, I understand people being weird about consoles. But do people really need to yell at other people for buying a Switch 2? Really?

I Get It, The Switch 2 Is Expensive

Before you jump in, I want to say that this isn’t the usual strawman argument I make in order to boost my unearned sense of self-righteousness. This has happened to me from more than one friend. And, to be clear, most of my friends are around my age. If any of us died, the general reaction would be, “Well, that was probably the right amount of time to be on this Earth.” So it’s absolutely weird when aꦏn adult gets angry in my texts - or in person! - over video game purchases.

It’s especially weird because you can just not continue to not buy the Switch 2 and achieve the same goals you have screaming at me. Nobody is forcing you. Let’s be honest: we’re mostly getting a Switch 2 f♎or Nintendo exclusivꦯes๊. If you don🍸’t care about those, this doesn’t affect you at all. You don’t need to be mad about it!

And, I’ve really seen people online and in my personal life angry about the idea that people might buy the Switch 2. More than usual for any console launch. One of the friends told me that I was wasting my money and giving into an abusive system and I should pꦓunish the company’s failures by not giving them comm🅠erce. Which I understand. But I swear t🐓o God, he said that I was “pathetic” for bein🅠g excited about it. Not to make it personal, but why are you coming at me with the heat of a thousand suns?

Baby, I work in television. Any consumer choice in almost any field of entertainment (including ga😼mes) is going to involve some amount of dislܫiking a corporation’s practices. That’s not a defense of that, it’s just the truth. It shouldn’t be that way! But me not buying a Switch 2 isn’t going to sway a 136-year-old company.

The Switch 2 Ain't Perfect, But It's Mine

I wouldn’t be writing this if I didn’t see it online, too. Not just trolls who are ready to hate anything that isn’t made for their chosen expensive electric toy machine. There are people I follow who sound like it’s a moral imperative to not buy a freaking ♋game console. People that I know who are posting how disappointed they are that more people didn’t boycott the new system. I don’t know. I might be understating it when I say this isn’t the most important social issue of our time?

And, look, I agree that the Switch 2 has problems! I’d have preferred an OLED screen, not the opportunity to buy one in two years. Having to connect to the internet to get th🀅e sys📖tem rolling is incredibly disappointing and, in my opinion, backwards. That said, the PS5 Pro also doesn’t really do its job unless you connect to the internet or hunt down a very expensive disc drive. And that’s not even mentioning modern computers.

To be clear, I don’t like it, but I don’t feel like the Switch 2 is the one who broke the seal on this one. And, hell, I don’t like that the games are more ไexpensive e🌳ither! That said💮, I’ve been spending $80-$100 on the deluxe (eg, full) version of a game since forever. Not something I love. Not something I’m mad at Nintendo about during a very weird financial time. But me wasting my money is not, in fact, a thing that affects you.

Also, yes, I am biased towards Nintendo. I used to work there. I’ve got friends there. I like thꦏose friends. But, as I’ve had to say every time I drop this disclaimer, tꩲhey won’t give me free stuff no matter how much I ask. And , so I can assure you they’ve caused me more pain than most.

Putting all that aside, I like the Switch 2 even if it’s not perfect. I’d have loved more storage. I’d have loved it if the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:new special GameCube controller worked better with GameCube games outside of the Switch Online app such as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Metroid Prime and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Sunshine. Oh, I’d have loved that the most, my friends! But it d🎶oesn’t make me 💝melt down that it’s missing. And it certainly doesn’t make my blood boil if someone else enjoys it just fine.

What Can I Say - Nintendo Just Gets Me

It’s tiring to feel like every video game purchase requires running through a gauntlet of furious people. And it’s weird to see normal people I know get red hot mad because they don’t like a new console. Not to go back to my little anecdote, but that friend has not texted me since! I didn’t even fight with him. I just said what I’ve said up here: I like Nintendo, I’ve got some personal feelings for the place, and I’m excited for a new 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mario Kart. I wasn’t pointing a gun to his head and demanding he purchase a $🧜450 s൩ystem.

Oh, and I should say one more thing: he started the conversation by texting me, “Hope you enjoy your rip-off today.” And that really made me sad because my Switch 2 didn’t arrive until the day after launch. The oth🌊er friend was a ꧒bit nicer, but boy was he still weird about this.

I just don’t get that. I recognize that we’ve overused and somewhat misused the “just let peop🧜le enjoy things” meme. But, honestly, if it’s not bothering you, if it doesn’t affect your life, if it doesn’t hurt others, if you’re not losing money over it, then stop being mad about other people buying the Switch 2. I’m not even saying don’t be mad at the console itself. Just stop being a jerk to anybody who makes a video game purchasing decision you dislike. We’ve been doing this for so long, and it’s so stupid, and I’m so tired.
