Pokemon Go is getting what is possibly its very biggest update yet with Go Beyond, an update rolling out now which is bringing many new features and adjustments to the game, big and small. But one thing that the most dedicated Pokemon Go fans have been asking for is finally upon us, tagging.
Tags and tagging are brand new to Pokemon Go and are available right now, though I can't blame you if ✱you just heard about and are confused, or just logged in to a mysterious new tab on the Pokemon menu in-game. However you heard about tagging and whatever you need to know about it, this guide will tell you what you need, so just read below.
What Is Tagging In Pokemon Go?
Tagging is actually a brand new categorisation system that Pokemon trainers have bee⭕n asking for since the beginning of the game. Using this system you can make your own categories of Pokemon, and then divide them as such. For example, most players logging in today will see they already have a tag category, Favorites, which they will have after tapping the little star icon on Pokemon, of course.
Now you can make even more categories. For example, I immediately made categories to separate my Shiny and Alolan Pokemon. You couౠld of course makes categories for your rarest creature💦s, Pokemon you're willing to trade, Pokemon you're working hard on training, and more. If you play the game a lot, then the utility of this is obvious. If you're more of a casual player, you can feel free to ignore it.
How To Use Tagging In Pokemon Go
Using the tag system is simple, but you might ൩mess it up the first time. Don't worry, with this guide we'll make sure you have all the information you need to get𝕴 it right the first time.
- First, open up the Tags menu tab in the Pokemon menu.
- Use the + icon in the bottom left to create a new tag.
- Once you've created the tag, move back to the main Pokemon menu.
- Now hold a Pokemon and highlight it, as you would to transfer it - but don't click transfer.
- There will be a new option to tag the highlighted Pokemon. Tap that.
- Change the category of tag you want to add the selected Pokemon to, and ensure there is a check-mark to the right of your selection.
- Press OK.
Just like that, you will be able to add tags to your Pokemon in Pok𒉰emon Go and categorise them so you'll never feel overwhelmed by the size of your collection ever again. Until your🥀 bag space fills up, that is.
