How To Choose Your Starting Stats

A Red Priest asking what you were doing in the forest from outside your prison cell.

Wheဣn you get started in the prisons of the Asylum Island, one of the Red Priests will ask you questions. Your answers dictate your starting skills and stats, as these will be the bonus you begin with.

When asked what you were doing before the Red Shields caught you, answer with either of the following to get the best start on a stealthy character:

  • Hunting Playstyle Bonus

If you prefer to move quickly and wield a bow, select the option, "I was hunting." This will grant you the following bonuses to your starting stat array:

    • Archery +3
    • Medium Armor +3
    • Athletics +3
    • Evasion +3
    • Sneak +3

This build is best for those who prefer stealth but aren't opposed to getting their hands dirty up close. You'll have better proficie🍨ncy in thicker armor, and you'll have an edge when it comes to getting around.

  • Thieving Playstyle Bonus

If you're more of a thief or assassin, select the option, "I was avoiding the city guards. Trying to sell some... goods." The following bonuses will be rewarded:

    • One-handed +3
    • Archery +3
    • Light Armor +3
    • Agility +3
    • Sneak +3

With these stats, you're better off clinging to the shadows and remaining unseen. Combat is best avoided, as you're not prepared to handle it up close unless y💦ou have a dagger.

Regardless of your choice, the priest will ask for clarification. You can gain additional bonuses this way based on your preferences.

Don't worry if you change your mind. There are ways to respec your character after the initial setup, though you can't change the initial bonuses.

With these choices confirmed, you'll begin the story and explore the Asylum Island on your own. Use this as an opportunity to collect materials and test out your skills. You'll have opportunities to change them later.
