How To Start The Crooked Trail Quest
After you reach the second region, Cuanacht, make your way to the west of the lower city where you will find multiple workers around. Among them, there will be a noticeable character with a red hat called Rowan, so speak to him.
Rowan will ask you to bring back a family heirloom that was taken from him by the deserters, and he will instruct you to go to a 🐠ne🍸arby deserter camp and retrieve it for him.
How To Complete The Crooked Trail Quest
The deserter camp that you need to make your way to is just south of your current location with Rowan, so head there. As soon as you arrive, make sure to deal with all the enemies in order to be able to s🍸earch for the item freely.
After you take out the enemies, you will find that there is actually no family heirloom and instead it was a trap.
Make your way to the north of the camp where you will find a tent, and just behind it there will be a letter that you can interact with to learn the truth about Rowan.
Head back to Rowan and confront him about it. He will deny it at first but then admit to everything he has done. From this point, the quest will be completed but Rowan will be marked as an enemy for you.
You don't have to kill him if you don't want to, but if you do decide to, you will be able to get his red hat from him.
