Take-Two Interactive Software Inc.&rsꦫquo;s 2K Games annou🐎nced the cancellation of an unannounced game today, reportedly in development at Mafia 3 studio Hangar 13.

In an earnings statement on Wednesday, 2K Games described a $53 million "🍌;impairment charge" in relation to the decision to end✤ development on an unannounced title. According to , that game was a project code-named Volt in development at Hangar 13.

Reportedly, Volt had gone through several iterations before it was ultimately canceled by 2K. ꦚThe current version of the game faced challenges due to the consequences of the pandemic, as well as reboots and "technological hiccups." The game, which has been in development since 2017, featured superheroes and competitive online gameplay.

Hanger 13 was established in 2014 in Novato, California where 2K Marin previously existed. The company's first game, Mafia 3, was released in October 2016. Its most recent title, Mafia: Definitive Edition, was a remake of the original Mafia and a remaster of Mafia 2. Bloomberg reports that employees of Hangar 13 will meet on Thursday to discuss the future of the studio. At this time, no layoffs have been announced for the company.
