Tales Of Arise: Beyond The Dawn - Nimus Pande𝓡monium Boss Fight Guide
Here's how ܫto take🍎 down the first boss, Nimus Pandemonium, in Tales of Arise's first expansion, Beyond the Dawn!
So whether it's part of the critical path or a random Sub-Quest, no Zeugle is safe from this immensely powerful Party, putting the Cruel Keeper in our crosshairs, who was hiding behind the Locked Door in the Helgal-Ryugola 238 Mausoleum in Mahag Saar.
Cruel Keeper Overview
The Cruel Keeper is one of the first completely optional bosses you can encounter in the Beyond the Dawn expansion of Tales of Arise, as it is part of the 'Silence and Sleep' Sub-Quest that becomes available upon completing the Main Quest 'Branded.'
While the Cruel Keeper is a highly damaging foe, its move set is quite basic, enabling you to focus on its weaknesses and dispat🐓ch it swiftly once you𝄹 know what to focus on and the proper strategy against it.

How To Beat Cruel Keeper In Tales Of Arise: Beyond The Dawn
As mentioned above, the Cruel Keeper can dish out mass amounts of damage but has a very strict and limiting move list, making it easy to predict, counter, and defeat. With that said, it being Weak to Wind and Resistant to Earth makes Dohalim have to sit this one out in favor of Shionne as your Party's primary healer.
Our Party for this encounter comprised Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell, and Law, and we feel this is the best overall lineup to takedown the Cruel Keeper swiftly and efficiently. Dohalim wouldn't make sense to use here at all, as most of his Artes are Earth-based, and Kisara lacks the damage output of a Law⛄ or Rinwell, making her hard to recommend here as well.
Shionne: Boost Attack
When the encounter begins, just attack the Cruel Keeper with normal attacks, tossing in a Severing Wind and Hurricane Thrust combo with Alphen until Shionne's Boost Attack becomes available. Due to the Cruel Keeper being a flying enemy, its guard will be broken on contact the first time it gets hit by this attack!
Stunned Cruel Keeper
With the Cruel Keeper stunned, you can unleash a barrage of attacks onto it, dealing tremendous amounts of damage quickly, especially if you have Wind Artes equipped for all active Party Members!
Cruel Keeper: Dashing Slash
Aside from its plethora of basic attacks, Cruel Keeper will swiftly dash forward with immense speed before delivering a devastating slash with its claws. If the Cruel Keeper dashes toward you, time your Evade just before the slash connects to perform a Perfect Evade, slowing time briefly, enabling you to land a powerful counterattack.
Sometimes, it will dash at a completely different Party Member, leaving you safe from damage entirely. Just ensure they get healed if they receive damage from this attack!
Cruel Keeper: Havoc Gale
Another of Cruel Keeper's special attacks is its Havoc Gale Arte, telegraphed by a purple circle that slowly fills up. Once filled completely, Havoc Gale will be cast, summoning a large wind gust in the arena that substantially damages anyone caught within it and pushes back all that go near it.
There's no real way to counter this attack, so just run away from the bright green gust of wind and try circling behind Cruel Keeper. If you can get behind them, you can begin attacking the large weak spot on the back of its tail. If not, you can spend this time replenishing your health and ensuring your Party is topped up as well!
Shionne: Boost Attack (Part 2)
After these attacks from Cruel Keeper, Shionne and company should have their Boost Attacks ready. This time, however, Shionne's won't be enough to stagger the boss. Still, it should be used as it will deal the most damage to Cruel Keeper!
Alphen: Boost Attack
Following Shionne's Boost Attack, Alphen's should also be nearly ready to use at this point as well. Once he gets it, circle behind Cruel Keeper and use his Boost Attack on the large weak spot on its tail, causing a Boost Break!
Stunned Cruel Keeper (Part 2)
With the Cruel Keeper stunned after the Boost Break, begin unleashing another onslaught of attacks on it, depleting its health drastically. Here, you should be able to get its health down close to the halfway point, if not all ♍the way there, depending on how much damage you can output!
Cruel Keeper Half-Health Boost Strike
Upon depleting the Cruel Keeper's HP to the halfway point, you must initiate a Boost Strike, which will knock it into its 'second phase,' which doesn't change much of anything. It gets slightly faster and deals more damage, but its attacks and actions remain the same!
Cruel Keeper: Havoc Gale (Part 2)
The Cruel Keeper will still periodically launch its Havoc Gale Arte, which will be handled the same exact way as before. Just remember that its cast time is now a bit faster, and it deals substantially more damage𒉰 than before. Avoid getting caught in it at🎉 all costs!
Shionne: Boost Attack (Part 3)
By now, your Party should begin getting their Boost Attacks back, with Shionne's being the one you want most. Once her's is back online, use it to nearly cause a Boost Break and deal lots of damage in the process!
Alphen: Boost Attack (Part 2)
Like last time, after Shionne uses her Boost Attack, Cruel Keeper will still be standing, but barely, requiring you to cause a Boost Break with Alphen's Boost Attack, which you must land on its tail. Once you do this, you're almost home free!
Stunned Cruel Keeper (Part 3)
With yet another Boost Break delivered to the Cruel Keeper, unleash everything you have on it yet again, drastically draining its health. If your damage output is high enough, you can finish it here. If not, you must go through one more round of attacks, waiting until everyone's Boost Attacks are back online!
Cruel Keeper Defeated
Finally, after depleting Cruel Keeper's health down the entire way, you must initiate the final Boost Strike, having you defeat the beast in a flashy and colorful style. And that's all there is to this encounter!
