There is only one day left until The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launches to very probable domination of the bestseller lists. Review embargo is up and from the looks of things Nintendo's follow-up to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Breath of the Wild has been worth the wait.

Here at TheGamer, our lead features editor Jade King awarded the title our highest possible score, a full 5/5, saying that it is a "masterpiece that not only equals what came before, it does everything in its power to surpass it". However, not all reviews have been so glowing, one outlet has awarded 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Tears of the Kingdom 6/10, while in a technical review the game was found wanti🔯ng too.

Uber geeks, and technical wizards, Digital Foundry put Tears of the Kingdom through its paces, with the analysts looking hard at the game's technical aspects. Identifying the significance of Zelda to the medium, since it has become known for "constantly reinventing itself", pushing new ideas and video games forward, Breath of the Wild was no different. While the Nintendo Switch is firmly no longer pushing hardware limits, it's true that previous titles, such as Ocarina of Time on the N64, extended the imaginations of game development. But does Tears of the Kingdom extend on the performance of its predecessor?

It's a good question because Breath of the Wild was limited in some ways. That game was constrained by the Wii U while Tears of the Kingdom does not have that older console in mind. DF found that Tears of the Kingdom is slightly sharper than Breath of the Wild while framerates are mostly a solid 30fps. However, using some of the game's abilities, such as the Ultrahand feature, can cause Tears of the Kingdom to drop to 20fps.

Nintendo did a fine job though with DF discovering barely any bugs or unexpected glitches. If only more games had such level of polish although triple-A game development has be🅘come ever more complex. But perhaps the limitations of the Switch hardware makes such polish a trifle easier compared to the beastly power of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, with their ray-tracing capabilities and so on.

Tears of the Kingdom

Some feared that Tears of the Kingdom would somehow be too big for the aging Nintendo Switch, but Digital Foundry found no such thing. DF was especially impressed by the work on the clouds and lighting in the new game. However, there is a wrinkle to it all. DF says that while Tears of the Kingdom is a polished entry, the game "doesn't quite measure up" what was shown in the original trailers for it and that while it is impressive for the hardware the final release doesn't match anything like the visuals that appeared in the original trailers, according to DF.

It's an interesting analysis and those wanting to know more about how the game stacks up technically can watch the whole 19-minute video linked above.
