When there's trouble, you know to call the Boy Wonde✨r himself, Robin. The iconic sidekick to the Dark Knight, Robin has become a mainstay in the DC Universe by making for some interesting stories. After all, some Batman comics wouldn't be as interesting without someone that he can play o💃ff of, and Robin has always fit the bill perfectly.

Typically a young boy who had similar origins to Bruce Wayne (i.e. his parents died in some tragic accident) he was taken in by the Caped Crusader. Not only would the boy be given to a father who understood his backg༒round, but one who would give him the opportunity to take out his grief by patrolling the streets of Gotham City.

There hasn't been just one Robin, either. Multiple young men have become Batman's young ward, and each one of them brought something new to the table. Readers were quickly interested to find out how these Robins woul🍎d all be integrated in the DC Universe.

Above all else, Robin has gained more momentum recently for being the leader of the Teen Titans. Starting out in the acclaimed TV show on Cartoon Network, Robin has always been the most interesting characterℱ of the group, with enough mystery and raw fighting talent that audiences have been wanting to know more about the Boy Wonder.

This is where things get fascinatin♍g as we explore 19 facts you didn't know about Robin.

19 Which Robin Is The Robin? 𓆉

via: youtube.com

The famous Teen Titans show gave us the lineup of Robin, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven, and Starfire. However,🍒 it was immediately diffic🐼ult to pinpoint which of the famous Boy Wonders the writers pulled for the show.

That said🐷, as the show went on, it became abundantly clear. One episode saw Starfire being accidentally stuck in the future. There, she meets old versions of her old teammates. When she comes across the future version of Robin, he has taken on the mantle of Nightwing. Any comic fan would know that Nightwing is the persona used🍰 by Dick Grayson, the first Robin, who defected from Batman and protected the nearby city of Bludhaven.

18 The Joker's Sid꧃ekick 𓆏

The Joker has done some horrible things to Batman's sidekicks, and it seems like brutally ending Jason Todd wouldn't be enough. In the Batman Beyond universe, Barbara Gordon and Batman reveal to the new Batman w🐟hy ꦛthey believed the Clown Prince of Crime to be gone for good.

Years ago, the Joker kidnapped Tim Drake while he and Batman were in the field.

For three weeks, Joker and Harley Quinn tortured Drake to make him look like the Joker himself. When Batman fina🍬lly found him, he barely recognized his young ward. Joker tried to get Tim to eliminate his old mentor, but the former Robin couldn't do it. Instead, he ended the Joker himself and was forever traumatized.

17 Leader Of💜 The Young Justice 🐠

If there is one DC show to come close to the standards set by Teen Titans, it would be Young Justice. Not only did the show give plenty of sidekicks the time to shine in the spotligh𓆏t, but it also gave a realistic interpretation as to how each of the heroes could operate in their own hometowns but still come together for big team-ups at the same time.

When the Young Justice team was first formed, it was Aqualad who took over the commanding position. However, Robin was the second-in-command and was destined to take over the team. During the second season, Aqualad had left Young Justice and Robin, then known as Nightwing, was the one responsible for leading all o﷽f the young su🦩perheroes.

16 ℱ Br♑uce Wore The Robin Suit

Batman has been known to confuse his enemies several times over. There was one time that he dressed up as a different co🌠lor each night just to draw attention away from Robin. However, his greatest trick yet came when he and Robin switched co🌠stumes for the night.

One event saw Bruce zapped to a younger age.

In order to not raise suspicion, he and Robin switched costumes for the night. What's even weird☂er was during the Silver Age, w𝕴hen Batman revealed that he had created the Robin persona before his parents were ever destroyed. Long before his costume had anything to do with bats, he was parading around Gotham in those green and yellow tights. It doesn't make much sense, but comics can be that way sometimes.

15 ♎ Trained By The League ꦚ

The different Robins have their own stories to tell. Some of them were soඣlely trained by Batman, but others managed to find other ways of getting good in battle. In the case of Damian Wayne, he had a bit of help from an organization known as the League of Assassins.

As you may already know, Damian Wayne is the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul. Born into the League, he was trained from a young age to eliminate without mercy. His mother specifically brainwashed him to ruin the Dark Knight's life,🌸 and he nearly succeeded. The end result, though, was a Robin who was a better fighter than any who had come before him. Damian Wayne was a prodigy from start to finish.

14 💃 Once Was Eliminated By Request ꦺ

Not every Robin was a hit during their first outing, and the best example of this would be Jason Todd, the second Robin. Clearly being more of a rebel than old Dick Grayson, Jason Todd had a brash attitude that seemed to rub comic readers the wrong way. It gꦦot to the point where DC asked them what they should do with Todd. Believe it or not, the readers voted to have him eliminated.

What transpired was something that would forever shake the comic book world.

Death in the Family had the Joker kidnap the Boy Wonder and assault him for a long time. He then beat up Todd with a crowbar 🍸before having him eliminated in an explosion🦩. It was all because of the fans.

13 Grayson ඣDidn't Have The𒀰 First Comic

Dick Grayson was extremely popular in the comic community, so it was a bit of a shock to see him finally leave Gotham City. Believe it or not, during his time with Batman, he waꦏs𒊎 never given his own series. As a matter of fact, DC would wait several years before even attempting to give a Robin his own story arc.

Eventually, ꧃they caved and gave Tim Drake, the third Robin, his own series. That said, it's kind of shocking that they would wait so long. Still, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd are now free game when it comes to comics. Both of them have had their fair share of solo stories and arcs that have made their way on store shelves. Fans can't get 𓂃enough.

12 Teen Titanꩵs Combines All The Robins

While it's true that Dick Grayson is the Robin depicted in the Teen Titans TV show, his inspiration is a bit mixed. Not taking after just one of Batman's sidekicks, Robin takes some traits from all of them. He has the person♋a of Dick Grayson, complete with the Nightwing mantle. However, he has the costume of Jason Todd, and some of the attitude to boot. Yet, he also has the detective skills of Tim Drake.

It seems that the writers were taking the best out of each version of Robin and mashing it all together in one character.

This way, Robin could feel timeless along with the show as a whole.𒊎 Fans wouldn't be placing it in a single time period but coul🌜d feel welcome to come back to it at any time.

11 Each Robin Has A Different Skil🦂l ไ

Apart from some costume alterations and pꦆersonality differences, there is a serious distinction between each of the Robins. There's something that every one of them is good at that none of the others are. Dick Grayson is a natural born leader and, while he doesn't like to be in those positions, knows how to make decisions on the fly. Jason Todd is a master marksman, being able to take out anyone with just one bullet. Tim Drake is a brilliant detective, rivaling the skills of the Dark Knight himself. Then there's the formal combat training of Damian Wayne, who is arguably more skilled than the rest of the Robins.

Each Robin brings something else to the table, and Batman has to learn to work with their strengths rꦇather than make themꦑ be carbon copies of the other.

10 📖 Absence In F💯ilm

Robin has appeared in some live-action films, but none of his portrayals were critically acclaimed. He made his big screen debut along with Batman in Batman: The Movie. However, he'd be largely absent until his time in Batman Forever alongside Val Kilmer as Batman and Batman and Robin alongside George Clooney.

But nobody liked him.

Needless to say, the portrayal of Robin in those last two movies were so widely panned that the character hasn't appeared in a big budget movie since then. His inclusion is technically canon in The Dark Knight trilogy, but he never becomes Robin, so it doesn't completely count there. We assume he also exists somewhere in the DCEU, but he has yet to show up. We'd love to see a modern Robin role in any upcoming Batman films.
