Grapplers are a must-have in any fighting game. A🧔lthough they’re not always the easiest characters to pick up and play, getting in close and piledriving your opponent into the ground — chopping off a massive block of their health in the process — is one of the most satisfying moments a fighter has to offer. With some of the most recognizable grapplers and most in-depth throwing mechanics of any fighting series (2D or 3D), Tekken has plenty of options to choose from if you’re looking for a new main who can really throw down.
While every character in the Tekken series has multiple options for grabbing and throwing opponents, there are only a handful of true grapplers. That said, many c🎶haracters that may not seem to be built 🐻for tossing their fellow combatant around actually have serious potential as grapplers — at least, when the situation calls for it.
8 ཧ Nina Williams

6 Ganryu
An imposing sumo wrestler, Ganryu&rsqu༒o;s fighting style keeps your opponent on the defensive. Originally playing very similar to Jack in the first Tekken, his moveset has evolved considerably in subsequent entries. With punishing pokes and a decent amount of speed for a heavyweight-style character, Ganryu only needs to land a few solid strikes to win the round.
While grappling isn’t his focus, Ganryu’s moveset c𓆏ontains far more grab options than the average Tekken character’s. The sumo wrestler is able to counter an opponent’s punch with his Twin Wall command grab, leaving them open to a combo or back throw. Ganryu also has multiple throws that can be used during his Kumite Tsukami and Okuridashi Tsukami attacks.
5 ౠ Sergei Dragunov
A Russian military operative on a mission to capture Jin Kazama in order to deliver the Devil Gene to his government, Serge🍰i Dragunov is a cold-blooded fighter with a playstyle to match. When he’s not ordering tanks to fire on his opponents in cutscenes, Dragunov uses an array of feints, grabs, and crouching strikes to subdue his targets.
Dragunov has great potential as a grappler. He excels at using counters to take control of the battle. His Cold Fate grab can deal significant damage to crouching combatants. And he has 🅘multiple throw commands that he can use during tackles to keep his opponent pinned on the ground.
4 Julia Chang ඣ
The adoptive daughter of the original Tekken’s Michelle Chang, Julia’s fighting style takes inspiration from her mother’s. Relatively weak attacks are made up for by numerous fast strikes and kicks with great range. Julia also has access to a number of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:wrestling moves. By paying close attention to the space between you and your opponent and going in for punishes when they make an error, you can use Armor King to toss, flip, and slam your opponent’s health to zero.
2 ꧙﷽ Craig Marduk
Once a brutal Vale Tudo practitioner responsible for the death of the first Armor King, Craig Marduk has beco💯me a bit less bloodthirsty since meeting the second King. That said, his brutality is still🍌 very much present in his fighting style, making use of heavy launching blows and a range of slam attacks.
Marduk has an incredible variety of throws. Air grabs, counter throws, and moves for crouching opponents a𝔍re all options when playing Marduk. He also has access to unique “Mount” throws. Instead of the tackle that most characters have, Marduk piꦿns the opponent and can then perform additional throw attacks.
1 King
Possibly the most recognizable grappler in all of fighting games, King is one of the Tekken series most beloved characters. In addition to being one of the flashiest characters to see in action, the second King — who took on the mantle after the first King was killed by Ogre — is also one of the series’ most formidable fighters.
