Well, that hyper-specific niche of an audience now has a reprieve in the form of the "Shadows Edition." A compilation pack that bundles together both titles, this new re-release follows a similar suit to the "Graphic Black" filte﷽r included in Telltale's .

The main purpose of this new version is to create a darker ambiance to Batman. With black and white filters being all the rage in media (Mad Max: Fury Road even got a re-rel🌳ease as the ), I guess the purpose of this is just to make everything look artsy.

If you already own both games and don't want to repurchase them, a $5 add-on DLC will be released that contains the filter. That hardly seems worth the price, but no one can tell you what to do with your money. For what it's worth, the mode does seem to be more than simply applying greyscale and calling it a day. It looks reminiscent of Schindler's List with certain colors being accentuated.

If you happened to miss out on Telltale's Batman, it was a decently received series. Most of the company's later output felt rushed and Batman was no exception. While delving more into Bruce's psyche than brute force, it showcased all of the 🦋drawbacks to Telltale's engine with ༺no real improvements to tech.

It's not a bad way to spend your time, but there are better examples of the studio's output. The aforementioned Walking Dead is one example, but even Tales from the Borderlands crafts a more intriguing storyline. Batman kind of exists because the character is hugely popular and Telltale was buy🦹ing up properties left and right.

If that hasn't deterred you, then know that Batman Shadows Edition will be available on P༺C, PS4, Xbox🐷 One, and Switch. You can currently grab it from the , , and for $30. The PS4 and Switch versions will be releasing in the coming weeks. Sadly, no physical edition exists for those that want a hard copy.
