Temtem is not a roguelike - it’s a catch-’em-up in the vein of Pokemon with MMO trimmings and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a more grown up attitude. It does, however, contain a roguelike minigame in its most recent expansion, which does a pretty good job of demonstrating where Pokemon has stumꦚbled over the last decade.
After making your wa🏅y through the Cipanku storyline, you’ll eventually arrive at the Sacred Lake, a massive pool tucked away to the west of Miyako Village. This is actually where the Cipanku arc concludes, meaning that the current storyline ends here - we won’t know what happens next until developer Crema launches the next expansion, Arbury, which will hopefully be late this year or early next.
Although you can’t progress past here - if you speak to Carlos, you’ll just get a message from the devs about how the new🏅est update is still in the works - there is one more thing to ༺do: Venture to the Highbelow to activate the shrines and unlock the ability to take on Volgon.
Volgon is one of Temtemꦏ’s first ever Mythical Tems. It is stylishly designed and packs a serious punch, despite its base stat total paling in comparison to Tems like Oceara, Ukama, and Kinu. The thing is, nabbing yourself a Volgon isn’t necessarily easy - even after activating all of the typing shrines, you need to make your way through a co-op roguelike before even getting to battle it.
Fortunately, the roguelike is excellent. You start off with nothing besides a chest containing four things, which can be Tems, items, or buffs. All of this is random and therefore prone to being either brilliant orಌ awful. On one run, I got a level 100 Volarend and a level 100 Vulcrane off the bat - not bad. On another, I got a Piraniant, who is a) not particularly powerful on its own, and b) weak to 💜Volgon. Great.
The path is divided into several sections, all of which contain either trainers - who are ranked based on thre🙈e different difficulty levels - chests, rest zones, new Tems, shops, or exchange points where you can trade currency needed to fight Volgon for a random assortment of buffs. All currency, both for the shop and to access Volgon, is shared among the team. Once you get 17 jewels and complete your path, you can take on the Mythical Tem and, ifಞ you emerge victorious, capture it for yourself. The thing is, other players can either make or break your experience.
Essentially, if someone dies in Highbelow Sanctum, they can spend four jewels for a revive. Doing this lowers everyone’s chances of making it to Volgon, an🀅d so most parties specifically state that revives are banned. When it goes well, however, and you’re all working in Temtem-tandem with one another, you can share currency to ensuꦕre all of you make it to Volgon and get your chance at glory.
When this works - which it usually does - it’s a stunning piece of design that, while relatively contained, rivals actual roguelikes in terms of execution. I hav🍌e yet to beat Volgon myself - it can have up to six health bars and I keep getting Water and Wind Tems, who are both weak to it - but I don’t even mind when I lose because the chance to embark on yet another run🔴 is so ridiculously enticing. Somehow, Temtem, an MMO catch-’em-up inspired by Pokemon, has packed an internal game of a completely different genre into its new Lair mechanic. It’s kind of like Crown Tundra’s Dynamax Cave in Pokemon Sword & Shield, except better and with way more replayability.
Basically, I am once again asking all of you to play Temtem. Please. September had its lowest player count of 2021 - what are you all doing? Sleeping on Temtem should be a punishable offense. Seriously - get it downloaded. N🐻ow. Cheers.
