After launching its early access in early 2020, Temtem has emerged as a great new addition to the monster-catching genre, offering a refreshing take on the established formula set over the years by the Pokemon franchise. As a result, both games continue to thriveꦆ but tthere comes a question of which is the be♕tter game.
Pokemon Sword & Shield offered new Pokemon to players in 𒅌the world of Galar, while Temtem has quickly risen in popularity since its launch, and offers an alternative experience. So, which is better?
10 Pokemon Swoღrd & Shield: Creature Designs
One of the strongest aspects of the Pokemon series across all the generations has been the designs of the creatures themselves. From the iconic classics such as Charizard and Gyarados to modern-day favour🍷ites like Dreadnaw and Corvikni♔ght, P🀅okemon has a long histo🔯ry of eye-catching Pokemon.
Every Pokemon is someone's favourite, and this is mainly down to their designs. They all have a lot of character, and every type has dozens of great looking Pokemon that you can collect, level up, evolve, and battle with.
9 Temtem: Full-Feature Co-opera🍷tive Play
Pokemon is still yet to have a proper co-op experience, with fans still clamouring for a true MMO version of the series. In Sword & Shield, you can battle fr🎉iends and complete raids together, but there is still no way for you to actually play through the core game with a buddy.
Temtem gives you the ability to battle alongside friends throughout the game's campaign, making it a true co-op experience in which you and a friend can work through the quests and Dojos of the game at the same time. There's still the ability to trade and battle with each other too.
8 Pokᩚᩚꦗᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚemon Sword & Shield: The Expansive Pokedex
There may have been some controversy before Sword and Shield launched regarding the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:infamous 'Dexit' situation, but the games still offer you the chance to catch and train 400 different Pokemon. This figure includes over 80 new 'Mons too, with the Galar region offering a variety of brand new evolutionary lines to discover.
You might not be able to 'catch them all' in Sword and Shield, but there are enough Pokemon that completing all of the games Pokedex's will take a fair amount of time. Temtem in comparison has only 133 Temtem to collect.
7 Temtem: Difficulty 🦋
Temtem is a difficult game, requiring you to truly master not only your team of Temtem but also the art of duel battling in order to𝄹 succeed. NPCs you encounter along your adventure are no pushovers, andไ Dojo Masters, Temtems version of Gym Leaders, will fight you with a full six Temtem team.
As a result, you'll definitely need to grind a bit before big fights, but if you complete some of the games plentiful side quests and explore the numerous locations on offer you should be about the level needed. The fact that all battles are two versus two adds another layer of challenge to combat.
6 Pokemon Sword & Shield: Depth🦩 Of Combat
Both games have similar combat systems, with turn-based combat and type advantages being two of the biggest factors in both titles. However, Pokemon Sword and Shield gives you a lot more to think about when you're breeding and training Pokemon.
IVs and EVs are both major components in producing battle-ready Pokemon, and systems such as Gigantamaxing Pokemon and the ability to buy vitamins which increase certain base components of 'Mons mean the combat system is a lot deeper than that seen in Temtem which is a lot more rudimentary.
5 ♓ Temtem🀅: Stamina Instead Of PP
Temtem's stamina system is a great change of pace from the PP seen in Pokemon games. Rather than each move having a fixed set of uses, every move in Temtem has a stamina value attached to it, with each Temtem then having a certain amount of stamina that recovers every time they rest.
There is even the option to use up additional stamina to perform a move, which then results in the Temtem being exhausted and skipping a turn. T𒈔his can be used to great tactical effect and makes bat🎃tles a more interesting balancing act, as opposed to simply spamming powerful moves.
4 Pokemon Sword & Shield: Pokemꦡon Lore
Owing to its long-running nature, Pokemon has a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:lot of ongoing lore, with Sword and Shield expanding this further with the introduction of a whole new region and story for you to explore and le♓arn about. Each game in✱ the series has continued to build upon previously established events and stories, with callbacks and references to previous generations existing all across Galar.
There's also the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokedex entries to consider, which do a great job ofﷺ adding a lot of character to not only the Pokemon themselves but the world of Pokemon.
3 Temtem: Dojos Are Better Versions Of Gym๊s
Temtem manages to nail one of the most important parts of a game in this genre, with an impressive collection of Dojos for you to challenge and defeat. All six Dojos are dual-type, adding an extra layer to the challenge they possess, they're also a significant part of the towns and cities they're based within, meaning they possess a strong narrative purpose too.
They all have fantastic visual designs and despite using a similar template to that of the Gyms in Pokemon - battle a set of trainers before taking on the leader - they feel refreshing to complete as well. Pokemon could learn a lo🅠t from the Dojo system in future instalments.
2 🍬 Pokemon Sword & Shield: Familiarity Wit🐓h Fans
Inevitably Pokemon's greatest strength is its familiarity with players. Even if the setting changes with every generation, the core game remains the same. You know which type beats which, the best Pokemon to catch, and the way most of the game's mechanics work.
To some, this is a reason to try something new but for the vast majority of players the fact that they know what to expect from a Pokemon game is part of the charm, and it's something that TemTem can't yet offer.
1 🎀 Temtem: Side Content
Temtem offers you a good volume of content to consume, and this includes a healthy amount of side quests available throughoဣut your playthrough. A lot o⛄f these are lengthy processes too, lacking obvious answers that could make them a chore to complete.
Some of the earliest you'll encounter in the game won't be completed until much later on, requiring you to travel across the Airborne Archipelago in order to satisfy the character that gave it to you. They have some great rewards too, making them definitely worth completing should you want to deviate from the games main story quest.
