The digital version makes Jacob Fryxelius' masterpiece accessible like never before, but there's still a lot going on during any given turn.

6 ✨ Keeping Cards Is Expensive 🌳
At the beginning of a new game, there are endless possibilities. With little outside information to go on, it can be tempting to keep your options open by holding onto as many cards as possible from your initial draw and subsequent Research Phases. Remember, though, that each kept card costs three Mega-Credits.
Obviously, you'll need to keep your hand stocked to be able to advance through the game, but those costs can add up significantly as the generations wear on. Consider carefully whether a card fits into your overall strategy before deciding to keep it. Any cards that you keep but don't ultimately use are wasted resources.
The cost to keep a card only applies to cards drawn in the Research Phase. Cards drawn as a result of placing a tile or the effects of ano๊ther card are automatically kept at no cไost.
5 Greenery C🉐an Give Your Opponents Points൲
At the end of the game, players score Victory Points from a variety of factors. Each city a player controls is worth a number of Victory Points equal to the number of Greenery tiles it touches.
This means that placing Greenery can inadvertently give points to your opponent. Consider the locations of cities on the board when deciding where to plant forests♊.
4 Build Combos A꧑round Blue Cards
Once a blue card is played, it provides a re-usable effect that can be activated once per generation. These repeatable benefits make blue cards some of the most efficient in the game, but they're often slow when used on their own. Many require several generations to accumulate tokens such as Microbes or Animals.
If you're able to get a blue card or two into play early, look for ways to make them faster by defraying activation costs or preloading them with tokens. The faster you can generate resources, Victory Points, or all-important Terraform Rating, the more likely you'll be to put up a high score at the end of the game.
3 ꦜ Remember Awards 𓂃And Milestones
At the top of the screen, you'll see three buttons - Standard Projects, Milestones, and Awards. They can be easy to forg💝et since the rest of the HUD is at the bottom of the screen, but these options can decide a close game.
Milestones can be claimed by a player who meets the requirements. This costs an action and isn't done automatically, so it's best to claim a Milestone and get the VP as soon as you're able - otherwise somebody else might take it and steal your hard-earned points!
Awards, on the other hand, can be funded by any player by spending Mega-Credits. Once funded, an award will grant Victory Points to the pl𝔍ayer wh𒁏o has the most of the chosen resource - tiles on the board, for example, or the highest reserve of Mega-Credits.
Not only to Milestones and Awards reward focused, thoughtful gameplay, but they can also be used to direct the flow of the game. If the Thermalist Award is in play, for example, players might think twice about spending their accumulated Heat to raise Mars' temperature... giving you an opportunity to claim the Terraform Rating for doing so instead.
2 Keep Tabs On Your Opponents 💖
With the exception of their hands, everything your opponents have is public knowledge throughout the game. While you're waiting for your next turn to come around, you can click on an opponent's banner on the left-hand side of the screen to bring up their HUD. Their resources, income, and cards ⛎in play are all right there for you to look at.
Keeping an eye on your opponents' strategies can give you insight as to what their goals are and how you might be able to sabotage them. A player with a heavy focus on Plants, for example, will be affected more by projects that reduce that resource, while a player with high Steel production is likely aiming for the Builder Milestone.
1 Prep🍸are For The Endga✅me Ahead Of Time
When all three Terraforming Parameters are maxed out, the game ends at the conclusion of the current generation. By the time the endgame is in sight, you should have a pretty good grasp of what you'll be able to accomplish in that time. When it looks like the Terraforming process will be completed within the next one to two generations, skilled players will prepare to squeeze out their last few Victory Points.
Use the Sell Patents Standard Project to dump any cards that you either won't be able to use or won't provide any useful effects. The name of the game at this stage is maximizing VPs, so be ruthless. If a card won't get you more Victory Points or provide a path for another card to do so, get rid of it.
The other Standard Projects, most of which deal with resource production or Terraforming, won't be of much use in most cases by this stage, with the possible exception of building cities if there is sufficient Greenery to make them worthwhile. If the Banker Award is in play, it's probably more efficient to just save your money to try for the extra points - just be sure to check your opponents' current stockpiles and income to make sure you have a chance at the award.
At the end of the game, be sure to take a look at the changes you've collectively wrought on Mars - a major strength of the digital version is how pretty it makes the game look, so enjoy it!
