The 1.4 Journey's End update for Terraria introd💮uced loads of new Debuffs and Buffs, with extra scaling in difficulty for Expert mode and the brand new Master mode.
This guide will cover everything you need to know about how to deal with Debuffs, how to Buff up before fights, and what's new in the 1.4 update that is♈ hopefully on its way to consoles soon.
Debuffs In Terraria
There are a few different types of debuffs in Terraria: there are debuffs that are inflicted on you while fighting certain enemies, debuffs acquired because of certain environmental factors (like Traps), and the debuffs a player can afflict on an enemy with weapons and Imbued weapons.
Two very common debuffs are: On Fire! and Poison. A player can use these debuffs to their 𝓡advantage by inflicting them on enemies, although you might find yourself fighting enemies that constant𒅌ly dish out debuffs to you.
Everything You Need To Know About The On Fire! Debuff
Here are a few of the weap꧋ons that come with the On Fire! deb😼uff as standard.
- Cascade, the Hardmode Yoyo
- Fiery Greatsword
- Firecracker
- Flamarang
- Flameburst Cane, Rod, and Staff
There are also a few different enemies that will inflict the On Fire! debuff on the player, including the Fire Imp, Golem, and the Meteor Head. To prevent the On Fire! debuff from eventually ticking away your entire health bar, you can dunk yourself in water (you can carry a water bucket with you while farming Meteor, for example) or by drinking an Obsidian Skin Potion.
Certain enemies, such as the Bone Serpent, Demon, Wraith, and Possessed Armor are all invulnerable to the On Fire! debuff.
Everything You Need To Know About The Poison Debuff
Here are some of the weapons you can use that can inflict the poison debuff on enemi🌌es.
- Blade of Grass, poison lasts for 7 seconds
- Thorn Chakram
- Poison Dart and Poisoned Knife
- Pygmy Staff
The Poison debuff is most closely associated with the Jungle biome. This makes it extra precarious to venture into the Jungle before you're prepared. The Hornets, Bees, and later in the game the Queen Bee and Plantera all inflict the Poison debuff. You might also stumble across a few Dart Traps that poison you during early spelunking runs.
Unlike the On Fire! debuff, there are four different Accessories you can use to prevent the Poison debuff. These are the Bezoar, Medicated Bandage, Ankh Charm, and the Ankh Shield.
There are also literally dozens of enemies that are totally immune to poison. We can't list them all, but there are a few that stick out. Various slimes, including the Blue Slime, Dungeon Slime, and Corrupt Slime are immune. The Hornets are oblivious to poison, and you can't poison any enemy in the Ice biome.
Other Important Debuffs To Keep In Mind
There are lots of other debuffs that you will encounter on your Journey's End adventure, here's a short list 🎀of the most commo🐬n:
- Potion Sickness - The debuff you get if you try and drink too many potions. This means you really need to focus on potion management rather than chugging HP potions over and over.
- Suffocation - Another debuff you'll come across a lot in the early game of Terraria, this happens when you get stuck inside a pillar of sand, slush, or Silt.
- Shadowflame - This is a Hardmode debuff you'll find on weapons like the Shadowflame Bow, dropped during a Hardmode Goblin Invasion. It prevents health regen and can be very important for certain boss fights.
General debuff tips:
- Debuffs stack on enemies. So you can inflict both Poison and On Fire! at the same time, for example.
- The Nurse can get rid of debuffs for a price of 7 Silver and 50 Copper, although she will not remove the Potion Sickness debuff.
Buffs In Terraria
There is a wide range of buffs in Terraria, from gobbling down a lovely Fish Dinner to drinking twelve potions at the same time. Even making use of some of the furniture in your home can be aജ boon. We'll cover some of the most useful buffs in Terraria, and how to ℱget them.
Potion Buffs
Potion buffs are wide-ranging and cover combat, building, movement, and pretty much everything else you can do in Terraria. You should be collecting plants, seeds, and fish throughout your journey. They'll all come in handy ꦬone day. Here are a few of our favorites:
- Archery Buff - The Archery Potion is an early game potion that provides the Archery buff. This boosts arrow damage and firing speed. It's as useful against the Eye of Cthulhu as it is the Moon Lord (168澳洲幸运5开奖网:if🐼 you're using an endgame Ranged b𝔉uild). A timeless potion.
- Featherfall - This is one of our favorite potion buffs (from the Featherfall Potion) as it allows you to control your falling speed and direction. When combined with a Gravitation Potion it's great for finding Floating Islands.
- Spelunker - Another one of the very best buffs in Terraria, the Spelunker buff allows you to see sparkly treasure highlighted on your screen. Makes mining much easier at whatever point you are in the game.
Some other highlights include the Thorns buff, for dealing extra damage to enemies when they hit you, and the Regeneration buff for when fights get really tricky. The Obsidian Skin buff ♔lets you walk around in lava like it's lukewarm hot chocolate.
Imbued Weapons
Using Flasks (like the Flask of Fire and Flask of Ichor) will buff up your weapons. This means you can apply buffs even if the weapon didn't originally come with one, like adding Poison to your favorite sword or applying Cursed Flames to a weapon for extra damage.
Equipment
Certain armors and weapons come with their own buffs. Take the Beetle Armor, for example. When worn it will provide the Beetle Endurance buff which surrounds you with a protective swarm of beetles that absorbs incoming damage. The Durendal's Blessing is inflicted by the Hardmode Durendal sword. It increases your💎 melee speed by 35 percent with every strike (this lasts three seconds each time).
Furniture And Environmental Buffs
There are some pieces of furniture that will offer buffs when activated: the Sharpening Station is a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:useful one for a melee build, as it increases weapon penetration by 12. You could also snuffle up a Slice of Cake — this increaseဣs player movement and mining speed by 20 percent, ideal for digging those pre-Hardmode anti-Corruption tunnels.
Your boss-fighting arena should always feature Campfires and Heart Lamps. Campfires increase life regen by a small o.5 percent per second, and Heart Lamps boost that up to 1 hp per second.
