The fifth generation of the Sitting Cuties line of Pokemon plushies is finally available at the Pokemon Center, and as always there are plenty of hits and misses in the set. The new wave adds 156 Pokemon to the collection - the largest roster of any generation. Today we’re taking a look at the selection to s𒁃ee which ones stand out (or sit out, as it w👍ere) and which ones fall flat.
If you aren’t familiar, Sitting Cuties, also known as Pokemon Fit, is a line of miniature plushies designed to do exactly what you’d think. They’re posed in such a way that they can sit, and they’re weighted with microbeads to help th🐻em maintain their position. The product line began in 2018 with the first 151, and over time, the Pokemon Center has released additional generations. Assuming the line continues, it will eventually be possible to own all 1,015 Pokemon, in all of their forms, including all 28 Unown.
has some of the best little sitters to date. Most four-legged Pokemon make great Sitting Cuties. Liepard, Stoutlꦬand, Blitzle, Deerling, Landorus, Virizion, and Keldeo are all in a sitting dog position, which is both adorable and very stable. I’m especially fond of Samurott’s wide spread and grumpy face, wh𝐆ich makes it look like a puppy that just fell down.
For my money, the bird Pokemon are the real stars of this set. Pidove, Unfezant, Braviary, Mandibuzz, Rufflet, Swanna, Archeops, Tranquill, and Vullaby are all planted on their bottoms with their giant talons stretched out in front of them. I’m not a huge fan of bird Pokemon, but these look fant🍌astic and sit perfectly.
There’s a lot of Pokemon that can’t really sit, so their Sitting Cuties just look like regular plushies. They’re still waiting so they stay upright, so it’s not a total loss. If your favorite Pokemon is Litwick, Petilil, Tirtouga, Amoonguss, Karrablast, Solosis, Whirlipede, or Sandile, don’t worry.ౠ You won’t really get the sitting effect, but they’rಞe still nice plushies. That said, I am slightly worried about your choice of favorite Pokemon.
Then there’s the less f▨ortunate group of Unova Pokemon. Not only can they not sit, but they can’t stand up either. Pokemon that will have a particularly hard time staying upright include Alomomola, Vanillish, Vanilluxe, Ferroseed, Accelgor, Basculin, Elektrik, Cryogonal, Yamask, Siglyph, Klink, Klang, and Klinglang. If you g𝕴et any of these, they’re probably going to lay sideways on your shelf and give people the impression that they’re dead. It’s hard out here for a fish. And an ice cream cone. And whatever Sigilyph is.
A few Unova Sitting Cuties are already sold out, but they’re not at all the one💖s I expected to go first. Right now, Venipede, Larvesta, Dwebble and Joltik are unavailable. I’m not sure if this is a supply issue or a demand issue, but I never would have guessed those were going to be the popular choices in this generation. None of them are even good sitters! If you had asked me, I would have said Emboar, Serperior, Victini, Zekrom, and Genesect would be the first to go. Deerling and Ducklett are also personal favorites, and their Cuties are top tier.
Restocks are likely, so don’t fret if you’re a huge Joltik stan. Unfortunately, older Sitting Cuties might be harder to come by. There’s still plenty available at the Pokemon Cente▨r, but the most popular Pokemon like Pikachu, Mew, Snorlax, Charizard, and the Eeveelutions are long since sold out. The selection of Sinnoh Pokemon is pretty sparse right now too. If you have a physical Pokemon Center nearby, you might be able to find them there.
If I had to pick the worst pokemo🌠n in the Unova Sitting Cuties, I’d have to single out Yamask - a weirdly off-putting Pokemon that is biologically incapable of sitting. For 🧜the best, I gotta give it up to an underdog this time: Golurk. Its laid back, carefree pose makes it the epitome of a sitting cutie.
