When the original Pokemon Diamond & Pearl launched in 2006, ❀players were introduced to a vast and vibrant region chock-full of intriguing lore. But players whose Pokemon preferences leaned toward the fiery variety were unfortunately short-changed with a roster of Fire-types limited ൲to Infernape and Rapidash.

Figuring out the best Fire-type Pokemon in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl wasn't exactly rocket science back then.

Things have gotten better with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining 🌳Pearl, but in the spirit of the original Sinnoh there still aren't a ton of options until the post-game. That's why our list will be built upon two separate categories: Sinnoh Dex and National Dex. The Sinnoh Dex entries will almost always include Pokemon that are available to you during the main story. The exception here is Heatran, since it's unavailable until you've become the champion. National Dex entries are the opposite, usually mandating that you're in the post-game.

We'll start things off with something simple. Infernape is available immediately, and just so happens to be one of the best Fire-types in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl to boot. Many players opt to deal with the relative Fire-type deficiency right off the bat, foregoing any dreams of raising other starters in favor of the miniature magma-spewing monkey, Chimchar. And while the power of Infernape is the ultimate goal here, even Monferno can hit hard courtesy of Power-Up Punch.

Infernape's Attack and Special Attack stats are both quite solid, which is perfect for a Fire/Fighting type. Its versatility lets it take advantage of moves like Flare Blitz and Focus Blast, quickly putting enemy teams on the defensive. Speed is frequently this simian's best stat, allowing it to outgun and outrun a wide variety of rival Pokemon.

Why is Charizard such a viable post-game pick in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl? Stats-wise, it's all about that Special Attack and Speed. Indeed, it might surprise you to learn that its Attack stat is somewhat substandard. But it's not so low as to prevent you from making solid use of devastating moves like Earthquake if no one else on your team is a prime fit fo🅷r such Ground-based carnage.

For more reliable Special Attack strikes, Flamethrower or Fire Blast are excellent for STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus). Solar Beam can blindside opponents if you can time it just right, putting the pain on Water-types who might otherwise have ruined Charizard's run.

As its name implies, Rapidash has a great Speed stat. If you're looking for a Fire-type Pokemon early on that can outpace lots of enemy trainer rosters, there's simply no better fit. Keep in mind that Rapidash's Special Attack stat isn't anything to write home about, and more troublingly, its HP is paltry.

But if you've got a wall or two on your team who can soak up damage when necessary, this race-winning equine will be in good shape to buff itself up with Swords Dance and then deliver a deathblow with Flare Blitz. All that speed also gives Rapidash an edge for burning your enemy's team with Will-O-Wisp before switching out in favor of something hardier. Few moments are more satisfying in Pokemon than bearing witness to a strong trainer's squad slowly but surely succumbing to the ruthlessness of HP-draining status effects.

It may seem like we're just stacking this list with fully-evolved starters and calling it a day. The truth is, Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl is chock-full of Fire-type starters that rule, and you want your squad to rule, right? Enter Blaziken, the original Fire/Fighting guru and a great post-game choice if you didn't select Chimchar from Professor Rowan's suitcase all those dozens of hours ago.

In fact, and with all due respect to Infernape fanatics, Blaziken is arguably the superior of the pair. Their stats aren't terribly dissimilar, but Blaziken's potential move pool is fantastic. There are loads of smart builds floating around the internet, but Flare Blitz/Close Combat/Swords Dance and one of either Earthquake (if you need Ground coverage) or Thunder Punch (if you're lacking in Electrics) will serve you very nicely against the Elite Four.

Of all the Fire-types in Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Magmortar is the single most outstanding Special wall-breaker. If that's Greek to you, allow us to explain — some Pokemon designed to stall enemy teams excel in the Defense department. Others rely upon Special Defense. (A few are mixtures of the two.) There's a long list of these in the Pokedex, because it's always been clever to bring one along both in-game and competitively, but between its high Special Defense and stellar HP, Blissey is the prime example.

With good coverage and a Special Attack stat that seems custom-tailored to pounding Blisseys into oblivion, you can't go wrong with Magmortar. Focus on what you've got here rather than loading it up with physical fare. Fire Blast, Thunderbolt, and as a last resort, Overheat are good setups. Toss in Toxic and Special walls will wail.

1 Heatran (National Dex) 🉐

Heatran Pokemon

Heatran is a menace. It's for the best that this monster can't be caught until after the credits roll, because it puts most of its fellow Fire-types to shame. Fire is often an offensively-oriented type by definition, with few stallers and defensive powerhouses to speak of; indeed, Heatran's Special Attack is its highest stat, but its defenses are actually nothing to scoff at. This added bulk keeps it going for longer.

Magma Storm and Earth Power are recommended, but pretty much any Special-based move in Heatran's arsenal is going to make more than a dent in the enemy team. Its unique Fire/Steel typing will keep plenty of competitive online players on their toes, too. Lava Plume has 80 base power, which isn't as rad as Magma Storm's 100, but it has a 30% chance of inflicting a burn and a higher accuracy as well.
