Boba Fett is an iconic 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Wars character, but if you put a blaster to my head, I couldn't really tell you why. He looks quite cool, I guess. He doesn't really do a lot though... right? In the comics and the spin-offs, sure, there's a bit of Boba goodness. But he just turns up in the movie, says a few lines, then 'dies'. We then meet his father Jango in the prequels, who does the same thing. Must run in the family. I can't tell you why Boba Fett is a good character. I definitely can't explain why he's one of my favourites. But I can tell you I'm incredibly excited about The Book of Boba Fett, even though I'm not sure it needs to exist.
In a way, we already have The Book of Boba Fett. Not only are there numerous comics centred around Boba, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Mandalorian was clearly conceived with the idea of riffing off Boba Fett's popularity. He himself is a Mandalorian, after all, and many aspects of our Mando's cool, sleek design come from Boba and Jango. It's a different story, but like a lot of Star Wars media, it was made with the primary audience of 'men who were children in the '80s and haven't really grown up since' in mind. That's why Rian Johnson's Star Wars, which did things differently, fell so flat with this collective audience.
the show recently got a c༺onfirmed premiere date of December 2🌊9, but we've known of the show's existence for some time.
Not only is The Mandalorian inspired by Boba Fett, Boba himself turns up in the second season. In fact, we get a mini teaser for The Book of Boba Fett at the end of The Mandalorian -Boba Fett makes me a hypocrite. I've just dunked on the typical Star Wars fans for wanting everything to be exactly as it was in the '80s. I think modern Star Wars stories should bring in new characters and do new things - that's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:why I like The Mandalorian and Rian Johnson. I think Rogue One is the most interesting Star Wars movie ever made, and second only to the legendary The Empire Strikes Back in terms of quality. I believe all these things, and yet a Boba Fett series - based on an established character likely flowing through safe, predictable stories with a lot of fanservice and minimal invention - is easily the most compelling thing on Star Wars' slate right now, bar Mando season three.
There are, admittedly, a few reasons to be excited. A Boba Fett Thing seems to have been on Disney's mind for a long time, and was on LucasArts' mind before Disney snapped Star Wars up. The timing has never been right - that it is now likely suggests there is a reason, and hopefully one beyond 'Mando make money'. As well as that, Ming-Na Wen is set to return, while the episodes will be directed by Robert Rodriquez, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and Bryce Dallas Howard. Howard was particularly impressive when it came to zooming in on the human stories at t💯he heart of The Mandalorian, and her ins꧒ight will be sorely needed again to avoid Boba Fett just being a cool guy who runs around and dies but not really.
All of these directors bring experience from The Mandalorian, in fact, so it's best to think of The Book of Boba Fett as a sister show to Mando. Do we need another show like Mandalorian, starring a Mandalorian? Not really. Am I going to watch it? Sure. That's all Star Wars ever banks on, so I'm sure the show will be a huge success. Let's hope it deserves it.
