If you thought that you could rest on your laurels after retrieving the Dragonstone, Irileth is coming to ruin your plans. Your quick jaunt into 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Bleak Falls Barrow was just a short interlude between much bigger things. Right now, a dragon is attacking one of Whiterun's watchtowers, and something must be done about it.
She rushes into Farengar's room to summon the two of you to listen to a briefing with Jarl Balgruuf. This will be the first time you fight a dragon in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Skyrim so if you feel like you need a guide for this, you're at the right one.
How To Start Dragon Rising
The quest begins shortly after bringing the Dragonstone to Farengar Secret-Fire in Dragonsreach at the conclusion of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Bleak Falls Barrow. Regardless of what sequence of events led you to collecting the Dragonstone, Jarl Balgruuf's housecarl, Irileth will arrive shortly to deliver the news.
Follow her up the stairs and listen to the conversation. Once the situation is clear, Jarl Balgruuf asks you to join Irileth in stopping the dragon because running in fear from one makes you the most experienced dragon-slay꧑er in Skyrim.
From here, you need to go to the Western Watchtower outside the city. You can follow the quest marker there or join Irileth. It's completely up to you. The Western Watchtower is, obviously, west of Whiterun and easily accessible if you follow the road.
Following Irileth lets you watch her rally a team of Whiterun Guards to take on the dragon. There's no gameplay benefit, but it may be interesting to watch.
How To Fight Mirmulnir
The action starts quickly after you reach the burning watchtower. A panicked guard shouts a warning right as the dragon responsible for the destroyed tower, Mirmulnir, flies in from the mountains. It may be a massive fire-breathing lizard, but it's nothing that you can't handle.
For now, focus on staying close to the watchtower to protect yourself from the Mirmulnir's attacks. His breath attacks will kill you in moments and keeping a stone wall between yourself, and a fiery demise might be the safest tactic.
Dragon Breath Attack |
Mirmulnir breathes either fire or frost in a cone in front of him, dealing significant d💧amage. |

Rough Landing |
Mirmulnir makes a ground-shaking landing that staggers nearby people |
Melee Attacks |
When grounded, Mirmulnir can attack nearby enemies by biting them or swinging his tail at them, dealing heavy damage. |
The most obvious challenge for this fight is that, like the vast majority of dragons, Mirmulnir flies. If you're an archer, hitting him will be challenging but ultimately doable. If you're anything else, it will be a waiting game. Low-level destruction spells struggle to reach flying dragons while melee fighters are just out of luck. That said, Mirmulnir will occasionally land, giving you a chance to fight him up close. Be cautious when attempting this; his melee attacks hit hard, especially at low levels.
Mirmulnir can perform a Finisher on you, killing you outright, if you are below half your health and within biting range. Try to pull bac✅k and heal up if thin🦂gs get dicey.
Throughout the fight, remember that you are not alone: Irileth and the guards will be fighting alongside you. Their bows will be able to constantly damage the flying lizard, and their very presence can serve as a distraction. After all, you're the main character of this story, and they don't even have names. It's an easy choice.
Dragons cannot fly after losing half their health. Given enough time, Mirmulnir won't be able to fly away from you.
Once you've slain the beast, something interesting starts to happen.
Finishing Dragon Rising
To the surprise of the many onlookers, you start to absorb the dragon's soul and his knowledge with it. It automatically helps you understand the words you saw at Bleak Falls Barrow, the first word of a Shout. With this, it's official. You're the Dragonborn. One of the guards proposes an optional objective, asking you to demonstrate your power to them. It's a great introduction to your new power and will add some context to who you are.
It may be morbid, but make sure to loot Mirmulnir's bones and scales. They're heavy, but they are worth a lot of money. They're also useful for high-level smithing if you're planning that far ahead.
You may find that you're temporarily unable to fast travel directly to Dragonsreach. Don't worry too much, just walk through Whiterun. You'll soon understand why. Making your way back to the Jarl will start the next quest, The Way Of The Voice.
You will have to speak with him a second time to end Dragon Rising and receive your reward for saving the city, the title of Thane, an enchanted axe, and your personal Housecarl, Lydia. She's a follower that is sworn to help you in your endeavors and to carry your burdens.
You'll see a pair of Alik'r warriors at Whiterun's gate when returning. Talking to them will start the quest 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:In My Time Of Need but won't change much else.
