Religion is a complicated thing in Skyrim. The very civil war that has torn the province apart is already proof of that. The Empire's influence over worship has put the Eight Divines at the top of the religious pecking order, with many traditional beliefs falling by the wayside.
One old man living in the mountains within the Rift is all too aware of that. He is a follower of Kyne, the version of Kynareth that the Nords had initially worshiped. One of her traditions, the Sacred Trials, is at risk of dying out, and he is eager to guide you in undertaking them for preservation's sake.
Starting Kyne's Sacred Trials
This quest starts in the mountains to the west of Riften and south of Ivarstead at Froki's Shack. Its owner, Froki Whetted-Blade, lives💫 with his grandson far away from the rest of society.
Froki's home is in a remote location and is difficult to reach.
He strongly encourages you to complete the Sacred Trials of Kyne. This is a traditional challenge for hunters and is meant to test young hunters before they are considered ready. To sweeten the deal, he will provide you with a unique amulet for completing the trials.
Defeating The Pests
The old hunter anoints you, providing the preparation necessary to fight your first set of targets. They are weak enemies that barely pose a threat.
These enemies are merely ghostly versions of their usual selves and can be defeated using standard tactics.

Fighting The Predators
Froki wastes no time and sets you up against a trio of harder enemies, intended to test your prowess in combat.

Return to Froki's Shack for the final step.
If you struggled with this set of enemies, consider getting stronger before starting the next part.
Vanquishing The Troll Champion
This final enemy is the most difficult part of the trials. You will fight the Guardian Troll at a small cave called Graywinter Watch, to the east of Whiterun. The battle against it is complicated by the two normal trolls waiting in the cave.
Trolls are weak to Flame spells and have their health regeneration halted when alight. Using spells such as Flames and Fire Breath will be a good method of keeping them at bay.
While not required, you can find Froki's Bow inside the cave on a barrel. It is a longbow that deals ten points of stamina damage but is otherwise unremarkable.
Completing Kyne's Sacred Trials
Return to Froki for a final time to complete the quest. There is no monetary reward, though you will receive Kyne's Token, an amulet suited for hunters. It reduced damage from animals by ten percent and increases bow damage by five percent.
