One of the most obvious examples is in Whiterun, where the Gray-Manes and Battle-Borns have become bitter enemies despite being close friends for centuries. Starting Missing In Action
You start this quest by talking to Fralia Gray-Mane168澳洲幸运5开奖网: at her market stall in Whiterun after Olfrid Battle-Born mocks her missing son. She will be grateful for your sympathy and asks you to visit her house where you can learn more.
The quest can also be started by talking to the Battle-Borns after the argument or visiting House Gray-Mane directly.
At House Gray-Mane, her remaining son, Avulstein, will confront you. He is afraid that he will be taken next. He dꩲoes not trust you until Fra𒉰lia convinces him otherwise.
Reluctantly, he asks you to find evidence of his brother's survival. Based on how the Battle-Borns have been treating the family and because of their grudge, he suggests searching House Battle-Born.
Finding The Evidence
While Avulstein suggests a practical and fairly straightforward approach, you can find alternative methods of discovering where Thorald is.
Stealing The Evidence
You are looking for a missive inside House Battle-Born. It is on the first floor, in the west wing of the house, and locked behind a leveled lock. If you are a skilled lockpick, this would not be difficult.
There is no key for this office, meaning that you cannot pickpocket a Battle-Born or find the key elsewhere. You have to pick the lock.
This is further complicated by the house being off-limits to strangers. You will have to sneak through the house unless you have befriended the family already. ⛄There are three methods to 🤪gaining their friendship.

Give the correct greeting to Idolaf |

Sell crops to Alfhild Battle-Born |
You can find the Battle-Born Farm to the southeast of Whiterun, by the city walls. Selling any crops to her will make you a friend. |
You will be able to walk through the house after doing any of the above, making your heist muc𒁏h ꩵeasier.
Blackmailing Jon Battle-Born
Jon's Romeo-and-Juliet-esque romance with Olfina Gray-Mane is a small detail that is easy to miss when traveling through the city. You can take advantage of it by pickpocketing a letter written by Olfina from him and confronting him with the evidence.
He will panic and bring you the missive at the Statue of Tal💝os at night, getting you the evidence.
Convincing Idolaf Battle-Born
You can bring up Thorald's disappearance with Idolaf by talking to him about it. He refuses to discuss it with you, though you can convince him otherwise.
This method requires your Speech to be at least level 75 to succeed.
If you succeed, Idolaf will give you a copy of the missive and tell you that Thorald is at Northwatch Keep, a place fearsome pla𒁏ce where people disappear. He believes that Thorald is deadཧ.
Rescuing Thorald
Return to House Gray-Mane to share your findings with Avulstein. He will spring into action and prepare to rescue his brother. You can agree to follow him or ask him to wait at home while you rescue Thorald.
You may wish to allow Avulstein to come with you. He is an essential character and cannot be killed, making him very useful in clearing out Northwatch Keep.
Regardless of your decision, you will go to Northwatch Keep to mount your rescue operation. It will not be easy. The keep is manned by Thalmor agents that cannot be convinced to let you in.
Northwatch Keep is on the northeastern most tip of Haafingar Hold, far beyond the mountains. You can reach it by fast-traveling to the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Thalmor Embassy from Dipl🍬omatic Imm🍃unity or Wolfskull Cave from The Man Who Cried Wolf.
The Thalmor guards are equipped with either Elven or Glass armor and weapons and are difficult opponents to fight. A frontal assault would be challenging at best and may result in Avulstein's friends dying. You will need to cross the courtyard and enter the keep itself to find Thorald imprisoned at the end of it.
You could try sneaking through the fort by going to a side entrance on the north side and picking the lock. It will give you an alternative route into the fort that has fewer enemies.
Completing Missing In Action
Once you reach Thorald, talk to him for him to be freed before escorting him out of the fort to safety. Once outside, he will reason that he cannot return home as the Thalmor are looking for him. He gives you a message for his mother and leaves to join the Stormcloaks.
Return to Whiterun to give Fralia the news. She will be saddened by his decision, though she is happy that her son is still alive. She will give you an enchanted steel weapon as a reward for saving her son, ending the quꩲest.
