Though the Dark Brotherhood's dysfunctional family unit has been disrupted by the Speaker, Cicero, bringing the Night Mother to their 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Skyrim Sanctuary, business must continue as usual. That means that yoꦡu have the chance to prove yourself to your new family with your first 🌠major contract.
Travelꦰing to Markarth, you will meet with your contact and 💦receive the details for your victims. While the original target is not too complex, she alters the deal and complicates the matter. If you are struggling to complete the contract or figure out who to kill in this quest, the answers you seek are within.
Starting Mourning Never Comes
You get this quest after finishing one of the three contracts given at the end of Sanctuary. After welcoming Cicero, Astrid sends you to Markarth to speak to Muiri, a worker at The Hag's Cure.
Muiri gives you the details of your first target, Alain Dufont, a bandit that had used her to rob the powerful Shatter-shield family in Windhelm. Alain's heist had taken advantage of Muiri's trust and the Shatter-shields mourning their daughter, destroying Muiri's friendship with them in the process.
Muiri will provide you with Lotus Extract, a poison that deals mild poison damage over time if you ask all the questions available. It will be useful against both targets.
Before you go, she asks you to kill Nilsine Shatter-shield as well, believing that Nilsine is the reason for her destroyed friendship. Muiri promises an extra reward for the deed.
Killing Alain Dufont
Alain and his gang are found in Raldbthar, a Dwarven ruin west of Windhelm. From the outset, they are very much like your usual group of bandits and can be treated as such. There is no requirement for stealth and there are no penalti🐷es for choosing to resolve the matter without attempting a covert entrance.
If you would like to be stealthy, be careful not to alert the bandit sleeping on the left of the entrance. You will be able to silently kill him if you are careful. From ♐here, you have two main optionsღ.
Go through the fire |
The most direct route to Alain involves walking straight down from the entrance. There is a damaged pipe spewing fire by an adept-level locked door. Picking the lock will get you in a perfect position to snipe Alain. |
---|---|
Take the left route |
If you cannot pick the lock, you will have to take an alternate route on the left. While there isn't a locked door, you will have to sneak through many bandits before you reach Alain. |
Make sure to loot Alain after you kill him to get a uniquely enchanted Iron Warhammer called Aegisbane.
Alain is a weak enemy that is easily killed by stealth. His gang is much more dangerous and will scale with your level, unlike Alain.
Killing Nilsine Shatter-shield
Nilsine is not part of the original contract and does not need to be killed. But if you like to focus on customer satisfaction, you can find her in Windhelm. She is an innocent citizen and there will be consequences if you are caught. Thanks to all the potential witnesses, killing her will be hard.
If you are a skilled pickpocket, you can steal her house keys and kill her in her sleep.
Her daily schedule has her spending much of her day in the company of others, often at the market. The prime opportunity to strike would be when she passes by the quiet Hall of the Dead on her way home later in the day. There are few people here, allowing for an easy kill.
Should you kill Nilsine Shatter-shield?
This is a question that is answered by how much you want the extra reward. Muiri wants Nilsine to die as revenge on the Shatter-shields, who already lost a daughter. Nilsine had held Muiri responsible for Alain's theft, something that she feels is unfair.
You run the risk of triggering a bug if you kill Nilsine before completing 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Blood on the Ice.
Muiri's motivation is not particularly strong, though she will give you a ring that makes your potions stronger, and you can also marry her if she's your type. That's not to say that there are no consequences for killing Nilsine, since her mother Tova Shatter-shield will commit suicide if her daughter is murdered.
Completing Mourning Never Comes
You need to return to Muiri to report your success and receive your reward. With that done, return to Astrid in the Sanctuary. After congratulating you, she talks about Cicero and the Night Mother, expressing her paranoia. The next quest, Whispers In The Dark begins with Astrid asking you to hide in the Night Mother's Coffin.
