It is often said that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. The Dark Brotherhood has taken the saying and figured out that the way to stop the Emperor's heart is through his stomach. Your job is to scour 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Skyrim for the my🌳sterious chef known as the Gourmet and acquire his credentials for your planned assass🍰ination.
This is a return to the open-ended assassinations that define this faction's quests after the previous sojourn through a dungeon. With one target within Markarth's keep and another in a remote inn, the needs of each assassination are varied and need to be tailored to the target.
Starting Recipe For Disaster
This quest starts after you return from The Cure For Madness. Having dealt with Cicero, you can continue with the main course, the Emperor's assassination. Your prior missions have provided the bait for the Emperor's arrival and weakened his security. All that's left is to get in close to deal the final blow.
Astrid directs you to Festus Krex, an old and moody member of the Brotherhood. He has been working on finding a way for you to get close to the monarch. His efforts have given him a lead; a celebrity chef known only as the Gourmet is rumored to be hiding in the province. This chef has been invited to cook a meal for the Emperor and has the necessary credentials to get in close.
You will be awarded a bonus for hiding the Gourmet's body. It is a ring that boosts your Sneak by ten percent and Destruction Magic by the same amount.
You will need to uncover the Gourmet's identity and steal his Writ of Passage to succeed. Festus' extensive research has found a specially signed copy of the Gourmet's signature cookbook, Uncommon Taste. The tome is addressed to a court chef in Markarth that knows who the Gourmet is. That will be where you start.
Butchering Anton Virane For The Gourmet's Identity
You will need to prepare for the Gourmet by journeying to Markarth's Understone Keep and visiting the kitchens to find the chef Anton Virane. As a big fan of the Gourmet, he knows where the concealed cook is hiding.
Squeezing out the information is easy. His fear boils over as soon as you mention the Dark Brotherhood, and he spills the Gourmet's identity and location quickly. To prevent him from spoiling the rest of the plan, you need to remove him.
Anton's unpleasant interactions with his staff are a hint that they will not intervene to stop your assault. They will, however, serve as witnesses.
Being in a populated area that happens to have a significant guard presence, you cannot simply cut Anton out of the equation. There are three methods that let you remove him quickly and cleanly.

Killing him in his sleep |
When Anton asks you to spare his life, lie to him to let him calm down. He will return to his daily activities which include going to bed around midnight. With a delicate enough hand and sufficient Sneak skills, you can slit his throat while he is asleep and without any witnesses. |

Shooting him from a distance |
The Understone Keep has plenty of places to hide in. If you are a confident shot, you can hide in the sleeping quarters next to the kitchen and shoot Anton undetected. You will have to be extremely skilled in Sneak to get away with this. |

Scaring him and running him down |
Telling Anton that you will kill him will blanche him in fear and reduce him to a terrified wreck that will run in a panic through the Understone Keep. The guards and bystanders will not step in to help, allowing you to chase him until he reaches an abandoned spot where you can fillet him without witnesses. |
Killing The Gourmet For The Writ Of Sealing
Thanks to Anton, you know that the Gourmet is an orc called Balagog gro-Nolob. He is currently hiding in the cellar of the Nightgate Inn. All you have to do is kill him and take the Writ of Passage.
If you have not visited the Nightgate Inn before, you can reach it by going west from Windhelm, passing through Agna's Mill which you visited during 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Contract: Kill Ennodius Papius.
This assassination is incredibly easy thanks to his location and schedule. Not only is the Nightgate Inn incredibly remote, but he also spends his time alone in the cellar or alone by the nearby lake. There are no witnesses in the former and only the occasional bystander at the latter.
The Gourmet's schedule has him in one of two places. He will be at the nearby lake around noon and will retreat to the cellar for the rest of the day.
He is no fighter and will be slain in a single hit. Remember to loot his body for the Writ.
How To Hide The Gourmet's Body
Simply dicing him up is just the first stage of the dish. You will need to garnish it with stealth for Festus to be satisf🤡ied. Skyrim does not have any features meant for hiding bodies and the correct locations are not obvious.
If you have never dragged a body before, you might be confused by this objective. Holding the "interact" key will let you drag a corpse by a limb. You will have to use this method to hide the body
If killed by the lake, there is just one location; the water itself, and you just need to drag his body into the water for the objective to be complete.
However, there are many more possibilities if he is dispatched inside the cellar.

The hay bales opposite his room are another hiding spot. You only need to drag him to them to earn the bonus. |

Behind the barrels |
He can lead you to an ideal location by himself. The Gourmet will be frightened if you declare your intention to kill him. He may not act immediately and may need to stew in his terror for a while. When ready, he will flee towards some barrels and cower there. Killing him at that spot will leave his body at the right location. |

Hidden in the barrel |
You can find a large, open barrel on the east side of the cellar. His body will be considered hidden if you drop it into the barrel. If you are struggling to lift him in, remove his clothes to make him light enough to lift into the barrel. |
While tempting, reducing the body to ash by disintegrating it will not count as hiding it. You need to hide his intact body for the bonus to be earned.
Lightning spells with the Disintergrate perk and Unrelenting Force with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragonborn Force will destroy his body. While it is tempting to spice up the kill with some flair, it can ruin the dish if you are not careful.
Return to Festus to turn in the quest and receive the bonus if you have earned it. With the Writ of Passage in hand, you have the final ingredient to serve up an Emperor. The quest To Kill An Empire begins.
