After meeting Miraak within the realm of the Daedric Prince Hermaeus Mora, it is clear that you will need a way to get inside the plane yourself to defeat the First Dragonborn. The only way in is through reading the Black Books, forbidden tomes of knowledge that link the Prince's domain to Skyrim and Solstheim.
Storn, the Skaal Shaman that has guided you thus far, does not know where to find another Black Book. He does, however, know that a researcher at Tel 💞Mithryn does. This starts another exploration of an ancient Dwarven ruin for ancient secrets lost t🦂o time.
Starting The Path Of Knowledge
This quest starts after freeing the Skaal from the Wind Stone and returning to Storn Crag-Strider at Skaal Village. He tells you to seek out another Black Book, starting The Path of Knowledge, and to free the rest of Solstheim, starting Cleansing The Stones.
The Sun Stone, one of the objectives in Cleansing The Stones, is on the way to Tel Mithryn and can be completed concurrently with this quest.
He suggests visiting the mushroom tower at Tel Mithryn, on the southeast corner of Solstheim to search for the researcher Neloth, who spoke to you in Dragonborn.
At Tel Mithryn, go to the largest mushroom and use the magical lift to find Neloth. After some discussion, he tells you that the Dwarven ruin of Nchardak has a Black Book that he has been trying to reach. Reasoning that two heads are better than one, he sets off to Nchardak. You can follow him or meet him there when you're ready.
His dialogue will change if you have completed the quest 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Discerning The Transmundane.
Entering Nchardak
The ruin is not far from Tel Mithryn, visible as you exit the area. Your entry is blocked by a group of Reavers that have made the ruin their temporary home. You will need to kill all of them before you can enter.
With the ruins half-submerged, the Reavers are able to attack from a distance as you run from tower to tower. You will need to pace yourself and be mindful of ranged attacks as you fight.
Neloth is no slouch and will join you in fighting the Reavers and the other enemies.
With the ruins cleared of foes, Neloth will use a Control Cube to open the ruins, allowing you to enter the Nchardak Reading Room.
The Black Book is right at the entrance, locked securely beneath a mechanism that Neloth has been unable to open. He explains that you will need to produce enough steam to activate the mechanism for the book to be released.
The researcher brings you to the Nchardak Grand Chamber where he explains that he needs to collect more Control Cubes to both drain the Grand Chamber and activate the boilers to make steam. He provides you with his Cube and points the way to the Nchardak Workshop where you can find three more.
Nchardak Workshop
Your second Control Cube is at the entrance. You will need to pick it up to solve the puzzles to come. This area has two Control Consoles set up at the east end of the workshop. You will need to use a cube on one of them to drain the workshop enough to access the third Control Cube.
Jump down to the bottom of the workshop to use another Control Console, raising a set of stairs to reach the northern door. Your path will be blocked by a bridge. Use the Command Cube to raise that bridge. This will allow you to reach the third Control Cube.
Dwarven automata will attack in waves as you use the mechanisms. Be alert for them.
The fourth Control Cube is beyond the southern door and blocked by a collapsed staircase. As Neloth explains, you need to raise the Workshop's water level such that you'll be able to swim to the Cube.
Remove the Cubes from the Control Consoles to flood the Workshop. Swim through the door and grab the Control Cube. This will flood the workshop. With the Cubes in hand, return to the Great Chamber.
Nchardak Aqueduct
With Control Cubes, you are able to lower the water level in the Great Chamber enough to reach the next area, Nchardak Aqueduct. You will need to reach the Control Console to the right of the entrance.
The path is obstructed by a set of raised bridges. To lower them, walk to the three buttons above and behind the entrance and press the right button followed by the left button.
Automata will attack as soon as you lower the bridges.
Use a Cube at the Control Console to lower the water level. Neloth will remain behind to raise the water level once you have taken the final Cube.
Walk through the marked room and take the Final Command Cube from its pedestal. As the water level rises, swim out of the aqueduct.
Getting The Black Book
Returning to the Great Chamber, you will have to use a single Cube to drain enough water to expose the Boilers. The remaining four Cubes can be used to power the Boilers, making it possible to take the Book.
You will find the button to release the Black Book to be lit and active. Press the button to unlock the mechanism. Neloth will suggest reading the Book. Doing so will drag you inside, completing this quest and starting the next one The Gardener of Men.
