The Game Awards has just announced their nominees for 2021♔. The annual awards are a prestigious industry event and the nominees for the biggest award have been named.
Up for consideration﷽ for the top award are six contenders♎:
- Deathloop
- It Takes Two
- Metroid Dread
- Psychonauts 2
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
- Resident Evil Village
There are thirty categories in total for the prestigious awards, including awards for Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, Best Esports Athlete, Best Indie, Best Performanc🐼e, and more.
The nom༒inees above will be battling it ꧙out to take Game of the Year.
This year notable titles to get multiple nods include Arkane Studios/Bethesda's Deathloop, Hazelight Studio's It Takes Two, and Double Fine/Xbox Game Studios' Psychonauts 2. These three games are up for Best Narrative and Best Game Direction in addition to Game of the Year.
The Game Awards will take place in front of an invitation only audience at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on December 9. Last year, the top prize was won by Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part 2. It beat out Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, and Hades to be crowned Game of the Year 2020.
The Last of Us Part 2 were the big winner's of last year's event, as in addition to Game of the Year it also took Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Audio Design, Innovation in Accessibility, and Best Action/Adventure Game, while Laura Bailey won Best Performance as Abby.
Voting has begun and it'll be hotly contested as indie darlings, critical favourites, and big-budget triple-A titles battle it out for the awards. A full list of nominess for all categories can be found .
