Naughty Dog has apologized for using a cover of New Order's song "True Faith" in a recent 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Last of Us Part II trailer without giving the artist any credit. The trailer was released last week and features c𝕴omputer-generated cutscenes of what to expect in t🍰he upcoming game.
On Tuesday, Neil Druckmann, creative director for The Last of Us Part II and vice president at Naughty Dog, responded to a tweet from Lotte Kestner claiming the company used her version of "True Faith" in their recent 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:extended commercial for theꦏ game. Kestner's cover was released over 10 years ago and features🌊 unique aspects she added to the song herself. Many of these went on to appear in the trailer. In her now-deleted tweet, Kestner said she was "heartbroken" that this had happened.
In Druckmann's tweet, he clarified that Ellie's rendition of "True Faith" as seen in the trailer ꦯis based on Kestner's cover and because of an oversight on their part, she was never credited.
Kestner responded to the tweet soon after 🔜with praise for the team. "So proud this ꦗmusic has found a home in such an amazing project. Thanks to Neil, Naughty Dog and everyone at Sony."
The description has been updated on YouTube, credit🅠ing Kestner and also linking to her . Sony has also released a statement clarifying they were takin🌌g every step to ensure Kestner gets the credit she deserves.
This rendition of "True Faith" is no doubt one of the best parts of the extended trailer. It creates a parallel to The Last of Us Part II's reveal trailer, both featuring Ellie singing and playing the guitar. The tone is dark and shows off some encounters Ellie will experience in the world and the song reflects that seamlessly. Even so, it would have been better if Naughty Dog had originally credited Kestner so there wouldn't have been a dispute to begin with. But even so, it's good she is getting the credit💎 she deserves.
The Last of Us Part II will be released J𒁃une 19 exclusively for PlayStation 4.
