There's a cat on the roof of the Special Support Section's headquarters. He's there every chapter, including the prologue. He's a friendly sort, and he's happy to reward you with gifts. The flip side is, you've got to give him a fish each time.

You can meet the cat, whose name soon becomes Coppe, as early as the first day of the prologue. Head up to the roof by climbing to the top of the building, and then interact with the cute feline for a cutscene. At the start of every chapter, catch a fish and visit Coppe ASAP, so you don't forget to do so before chapter's end.

Coppe can only be fed once 𒁏each chapter, but besides an increasingly decent set of prizes, you also get to interact ไwith a cat. How great is that?

5 ♒ T♋ake Things Slowly...

We can't emphasize this enough: don't start a file on Trails from Zero if you'll need to rush through it on a strict deadline. Trails from Zero, like every game in its series, is a dish best savored slowly.

In case you're unaccustomed to the way Falcom handles these games, understand that after every major event, most NPCs get new dialogue. Some of these dialogue sequences will shine further light into the continent of Zemuria and its people. Others are more individually insightful, or just plain funny.

Don't force yourself to explore every single conversation with the several dozen denizens of Crossbell State unless you're seriously invested, but by the same token, at least take some time to chat with some of them on a regular basis. You'll be glad you did.

4 ♎ ...And Expect A Slo🐲w Burn

Even if you remain adamant about sticking exclusively to the main story, know that Trails games are either glorious or notorious — the word varies by personal perspective — for taking their sweet, sweet time. You may initially feel thrilled that all of Trails from Zero's non-boss monsters are visible to you on fields and within dungeons rather than popping up as random encounters. But you can only see so far past the t eam in any direction, and unless you're drastically overleveled, every monster that notes your presence will attack you.

This, however, will rapidly wear out its welcome. There are bundles upon bundles of enemies wande﷽ring about on every field map and within every dungeon, to the point that it may take you ওa long time to reach your destinations.

The trick is to earn the Detection Quartz early on by finishing the prologue quest 'Geofront A1 Sector Monster Extermination'. You'll obtain your first Detection here, and since it only applies to the leader of the party (as, by default, only the leader bumping into a monster triggers a battle), you'll want to hook it up to Lloyd's Orbment chart. Unless, of course, you've made someone else leader of the party.

Tracking monster movements o a mini-map above, you can blitz through whole areas in a fract𝕴io꧃n of time.

2 Ditchཧ The Gr💯ind

Trails from Zero, like the Trails in the Sky trilogy before it, actively discourages leveling past specific points at every point of the game. This is thanks to a system in which you'll gain gobs of experience points if you're beneath an enemy's level upon defeating them, whereas you'll gain a fairly small amount of you're at or above them, culminating in a mere outcomes like one experience for the entire fight.

Given that the amount of experience necessary for each level-up is so large, one would need to spend hours battling far too many evildoers if they're receiving single-digit gains.If your only goal is to burn out completely on Trails from Zero, voilà, you've struck gold. If you'd prefer to actually play through to its end, do something else.
