When the Switch debuted it had a powerful slate of game releases for its first year. In 2017 alone we got 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Mario Odyssey, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Splatoon 2, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild. That's three killer 🍌exclusive titles released within the span of about 8 months. For some companies having a few great games come out in the same year may not be all that impressive, but for a developer like Nintendo that tends to have 👍a rather slow and methodical release schedule, it was practically unheard of.

We all hoped that this meant more exciting games would be released every year, but unsurprisingly, 2017 seemed to be more of an aberration than a new standard. Sure, 2018 gave us 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and 2019 fared a little better with Luigi's Mansion 3 and Ring Fit Adventure, but aside from a few remakes, remasters, and small titles here and there, its output returned its original snail-like pace. With the exception of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Animal Crossing: New Horizons - and maybe Paper Mario: The Origami King if it turns out be good - 2020 is shaping up to be another quiet🧸 year for Nintendo.

Considering this is the same year that the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are coming out they need something big to keep everyone's attention. And that big thing could and should be The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild 2.

Nintendo Needs A Heavy Hitter

via Zelda Dungeon

Nintendo really doesn't seem to have much on the release calendar for 2020, which seems like a pretty big oversight as we head from the summer into the holiday season. We know that they have a lot of important projects that are still currently in development. Somewhere in the world Metroid Prime 4 and Bayonetta 3 are being worked on, although god only knows when those will see the light of day. There were also all those seemingly legitimate rumors about classic 3D 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mario remasters coming to the Switch that so far haven't panned out.

This is a big year for gaming. It's the beginning of a new console generation. Fancy new gaming machines are coming to store shelves and will be the hot ticket item this Christmas. If Nintendo doesn't have anything to compete with the newest PlayStation or Xbox then they'll be left behind when the next generation finally arrives. That's why Breath Of The Wild 2 needs to release this year.

If there's any franchise that could potentially go toe-to-toe with Sony or Microsoft, it's The Legend Of Zelda. Breath Of The Wild is widely considered one of the best games of this console generation and perhaps of all time. Its sequel alone could be big enough to not only sell millions of copies, but also a large number of new Switch consoles. Nintendo needs a big system seller and BOTW2 might be it.

Why It Could Happen

Now, you might be saying "it can't be coming this year because we've seen no sign or heard any news o﷽f it being ready to release." It does seem increasingly less likely that a 2020 release will happen considering that a release date announcement hasn't been made and we're nearly halfway through July. It's also plausible that the 𝐆game isn't finished, as it was only revealed last year in a teaser trailer.

However, BOTW's release date was revealed in January of 2017 and released only two months later in March. If a trailer was to hit tomorrow with an October, November, or even December release date for BOTW2 then that would be more than enough time to get the marketing machineꦏ rolling.

It's important to note that despite BOTW2 only being announced in 2019, BOTW came out in 2017. If the same team started working on the sequel later that year or in 2018 without any bumps along the way then it's quite possible for it to be finished by now. They're presumably using the same game engine and assets as they did for the first title which would drastically cut down the workload. As long as they're not planning on saving BOTW2 for any kind of Switch Pro or♚ Switch successor, its releas꧙e could be coming much sooner than we think.

Come On Nintendo, Give Us Something Good This Year!

via Video Games Chronicle

It's hard to fathom a holiday season where Nintendo has nothing to offer. They tend to release some of their biggest titles around that time of year. Last year saw 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Pokemon Sword & Shield come out in November and the year before had Super Smash Bros. Ultimate ship to stores barely in time to be wrapped up and put under Christmas trees. They could rest on their laurels and assume that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a big enough hit to still make ꧂a splash for holiday shoppers, but they need something more than that.

There's still time for the announcement to be made and it has to be made soon. Nintendo is at risk of being left in the cold with new consoles debuting and BOTW2 is exactly the kind of game they neꦫed to win the year. That's why it has to come out in 2020.

If nothing else, it'd be nice to look back on 2020 and say "well it was one of the worst years ever, but at least we got Breath Of The Wild 2."
