How Were The Divine Beasts Created 10,000 Years Ago?

10,000 years ago, Hyrule was a “highly advanced civilization” according to Impa’s “legend,” with even strong monsters not posing a threat to the citizens, thanks to the Sheikah’s technology.

The people of Hyrule thought it best to use this technology to protect the land if Calamity Ganon were to ever appear again, constructing the four Divine Beasts - mechanical weapons used to weaken Calamity Ganon, allowing the Princess and the Hero to seal it.

These Divine Beasts were each piloted by a skilled Champion and were successful in hindering Calamity Ganon, alongside the Princess and th🌸e Hero.

The King abolished Sheikah technology, including the Divine Beasts and the Sheikah Slate used to activate them.

What Do The Divine Beasts Symbolize?

In Creating a Champion, Breath of the Wild’s art director Satoru Takizawa says that, despite the Divine Beasts’ “strong resemblance to animals in silhouette, they also contain elements of palaces, factories, and bridges.”

The Divine Beasts were imagined as “living machines” with “traits that make them both cute and unsettling.” Wildlife artist Aya Shida commented that Nintendo “wanted to explore a different aesthetic than that found in Western 🔯art,” referencing south-east Asian ceremonial masks, children’s drawings, and more.

The animal motif was used to help make them recognizable, as well as enticing, encourag🌊ing you to explore them.

Vah Ruta

Vah Medoh

Vah Naboris

Vah Naboris takes its name from Nabooru, the Sage of Spirit from Ocarina of Time and Ganondorf's second-in-command who turns against him to join Link. In Breath of the Wild, Urbosa speaks of Nabooru, saying, "Nabooru… Legend of the Gerudo, celebrated over ages. And you, who were named to honor her - you are a legend as well. Isn't that right, Naboris?"

Aya Shida commented on Vah Naboris’ camel-like design, saying that “molding it into something like a camel but drawn by someone who has never actually seen a camel made it feel like some kind of mythological creature.” This helped to give the Divine Beasts an almost alien feel, in line with them being 🙈tꦬhe relics of an ancient civilization.

The Divine Beasts In Breath Of The Wild

The Return Of Calamity Ganon

In Breath of the Wild, the King tells Link about the fortune-teller’s prophecy surrounding Calamity Ganon, which said the “signs of a resurrection are clear.”

In accordance with the prophecy, the King began excavating areas of Hyrule, which unearthed “relics&rd𝔍quo; from the past - the Divine Beasts, the Sheikah Slate, and the guardians.

Mimicking the events of 10,000 years ago, four Champions were chosen to pilot the Divine Beasts and fight Ganon: one each from Zora’s Domain, Goron City, Rito Village, and Gerudo Town.

Unfortunately, unlike 10,💮000 years ago, Calamity Ganon used this plan against them, having learnt from the previous atta♌ck.

What Happened To The Divine Beasts In The Calamity?

Upon his resurgence, Calamity Ganon took control of the Divine Beasts. The four Champions faced the Blights - Waterblight, Fireblight, Windblight, and Thunderblight - malice-born manifestations of Ganon that unfortunately proved too strong, resulting in their deaths.

The four Champions’ spirits became imprisoned inside their respective Divine Beast, alongside the Blight Ganon that defeated them.

Due to Ganon’s strength rising again 100 years later, most likely because of Link’s awakening, the Divine Beasts began wreaking havoc on the land of Hyrule.

Vah Ruta causes “unpre⛎cented rainfall” and threatens the reservoir to burst; Vah Rudania increases the volcanic activity of Death Mountain; Vah Medoh shoots cannons at Ritos who fly too close; and Vah Naboris’ lightning endangers Gerudo in the vicinity.

Link enters the Divine Beasts with the help of the Champions’ descendants, activating the terminals and destroying the Blights to regain control of them. The spirits of the Champions are freed; however, they finish their duty by remaining inside and firing the Divine Beasts’ beams at Ganon.

Does Link Have A Divine Beast?

In The Champions’ Ballad DLC main quest, after completing Monk Maz Koshia’s Final Trial, Link receives the Master Cycle Zero - a motorcycle shaped like a horse that many consider to be his Divine Beast.

Although lacking the sheer size of the other Divine Beasts, the Master Cycle Zero suits Link perfectly, allowing him to easily manoeuvre around Hyrule, attacking enemies and monsters with the Master Sword, similar to how 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Link rides Epona in other Zelda games.

What Happened To The Divine Beasts In Tears Of The Kingdom?

Fujibayashi went on to say that, “the people of Hyrule also witnessed this” though “no one”, not even researchers Purah and Robbie, can say exactly why or how the Divine Beasts vanished.

With Tears of the Kingdom focusing on the Zonai rather than the ancient Sheikah, Fujibayashi and the developers wanted to focus solely on the Zonai technology. "The main civilizations in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are completely different, so we thought about the game based on concepts that match each of these civilizations." This leaves the disappearance of the ancient Sheikah's technology as a mystery.

Though the Divine Beasts themselves don’t appear in Tears of the Kingdom, their 🔜resp𓆉ective helms can still be found across Hyrule and worn by Link.

Vah Medoh’s perch is also still present in Tears of the Kingdom, though the Divine Beast is notably absent.
