I’ve Never Been More Grateful For The Nintendo 2-Fꦉor-$100 Voucher
With Echoes of Wisdom about to launch and more Nintendo exclusivꦇes on the way, it's a good time to use Nintendo's voucher offer.
The Gerudo Sanctum will test your mettle, as it's filled with to💝ugh enemies and plenty of traps. Thankfully, we'll guide you along every step of the way so you can find what you need to pay proper tribute and restore the rift and heal the sands of the desert.
How To Unlock The Gerudo Sanctum
When you first arrive in the Gerudo Desert, the path to the Gerudo Sanctum is covered with sand. The only way to unlock it is to progress through the main quest, A Rift In The Gerudo Desert, until you've💦 proven your pow💙ers to the Gerudo.
After sealing the Stilled Desert Temple Ruins rift, you'll be directed to the cave where you can pull the plug on the sands flooding the entrance of the sanctum. From there, make your way to the now-open door and hﷺead inside.
Tri will create an opening into the rift, and you'll be dropped into the Stilled Gerudo Sanctum.
Gerudo Sanctum 2F
When you first walk into the sanctum's rift, you'll spot Link running off. You'll need to chase after him with Tri, heading up the ladder into the next chamber. In this area, you'll need to use your echoes to block the wind tunnels from pushing you back.
You can also just climb around them by navigating the blocks on the wall. Avoid getting too close to the strong winds and make your way to the top of the chamber where you'll find a boulder blocking the way. Push it out from its resting place so꧋ that it blocks the wind tunnel o🌸ne step down.
Proceed to the next ladder leading into the next room. You'll find a waypoint here along with a locked door.
Where To Find The Small Key
The room to the left has a flying tile trap! You'll unlock a tr🌜easure chest full of 2🌠0 rupees if you survive.
Take the eastern path and bind Tri to the mechanism near the door. Pull it back to move the blue blocks out of the way of the path forward, then hurry across the conveyor belts to pass through.
Bind Tri to the stone door in the next room to open a path and find a chest with a small key in it. Back track to the chamber with the waypoint so you can unlock the door to the north and press on.
Make sure to learn as many echoes as yo🔥u can while exploring the ruins!
The next room is filled with snake statues that won't affect you, but the room after that will lock you in and force you to fight off against several Mothula enemies. Switch into swordfighter form or use your best echoes to defeat them and proceed to the next chamber.
Moving across conveyor belts can be difficult, and your next puzzle will be to do just that while moving stacks of crates out of your path. Carefully time your movements so you have access to a clear area, then hop off the conveyor belts and take the ladder down.
The chamber below has several enemies, but you can avoid them with echoes like Holmill or attack with your abilities𓆏. Make sure to stop and rest if you need to recover health or plan your next move.
You'll find a treasure chest with a golden egg in this room!
Make your way to the bottom left of the room and descend the ladder to reach the tribute chamber. Activate the waypoint to see where you are on the map and unlock a fast travel point.
Chasing Link
Take the western path, where you'll be locked into a room with a Poe and need to defeat them to gain access to the outside area of the sanctum. Defeating Poe will reward you with a chest that has a map of the rift inside.
Make sure to learn the Poe echo here if you haven't already!
Head outside to catch a glimpse of Link again. Follow him south and t✱o the east, defeating shadowy enemies as you go. Hop along the cliffs to the north, then climb the tower and circle 𒊎around the top to reach another waypoint.
Blow away the sand here to find treasures, like a Monster Stone, and descend the wall to the east. Enter back into the sanctum and use Tri﷽ to pull one 🌃of the door-opening mechanisms again.
The next chamber is filled with enemies and cat statues. Defeat the enemies quickly and move the cat statue to the north out of your way so you can progress to the next room. Activate the waypoint here and advance.
Mak🃏e sure to rest before going forward, as you're in for a tough fight!
How To Defeat Dark Link In The Gerudo Sanctum
Once you enter this room, you'll find Link. The door to the exit will close and he'll fire several arrows at you. This time, you're going to have to get up close and personal to defeat Link.

Distract Link with echoes, then attack him. You can strictly use echoes to do your bidding or take matters into your own hands𒉰. While the first round can b🌌e tricky, it's the second that will send you running.
This time, Link separates into three archers that will attack all at once. Defeat them to open the way forward and unlock the Bow of Might. This allows Zelda to fire arrows by pressing X in swordfighter form!
Head up the ladder into the next room and move eastward to reach a set of ladders. This will lead you to a chamber featuring fire traps and a waypoint. Activate the waypoint and be prepared to start looking for tribute to reach the dungeon's boss.
Gerudo Sanctum 1F
In the main chamber of the sanctum, there are two open places for tribute. While there's not much you can do the first time you pass the room, you'll need to come back here later.
The sanctum is filled with several statues of various animals, but only two of them will be used. Interact with the plaque to learn that the hints you need are on Gerudo Sanctum 1F in nearby rooms. Thankfully, t🅠he hints you're looking for are below!
Where To Find The Hawk Statue
When you re-enter the Gerudo Sanctum before fighting Dark Link, there's a locked door to the east. Head through here and use Tri to open to stone door to the north. Pass into the next chamber, where you'll need to light all the braziers to unlock the hint for the first statue.
You'll need to block the wind tunnel so that the fires aren't blown out, so fire an arrow at the wooden crate holding it up🔯. The wind tunnel will fall and you can light the braziers.
Interact with the plaque that appears for a hint about the next statue, which describes a hawk.
Head back outside the sanctum and move north. There's a ruined tower far north with a hawk statue resting on top. Make your way there to learn the echo and get one step closer to the dungeon boss.
Where To Find The Elephant Statue
The hint for the second statue can be found in the room to the east of the tribute chamber.
On Gerudo Sanctum 2F, navigate past the fire traps in the room after defeating Dark Link. Use bou𓆏lders or other echoes to block the flames so you can safely cross the conveyor belts.
In the far right corner of the room, you'll find an elephant-statue echo. Learn it so you can place it on the pedestal, then backtrack to the last waypoint and head to the tribute chamber.
Place both the elephant-statue echo and hawk-statue echo on the empty pedestals to open the way forward. Proceed into the next chamber and pull open the large door to the east. Sand will come pouring out, unveiling a room with a larওge chest locked behind a contraption.
Head inside and use the blue wheel to turn the mechanism. Line up the black lines on each layer of the mechanism to open the large chest and obtain the big key. Move into the next room and unlock the big door to face the dungeon boss, Mogryph.
How To Defeat Mogryph
Inside the door, Mogryph will emerge from the sands. You'll have to hit him with your echoes or sword when he pokes his head out of the sand. After a few hits, Mogryph will take flight.
Check out our here!
Avoid taking damage from his sandstorms and use your arrows to pierce him in midair. Keep this up and stun him to deal extra damage before he recovers. Once Mogryph is defeated, you'll be rewarded with might crystals and a full heart.
Tri will transport you outside the Gerudo Sanctum, where Dohna will greet you and inform you that the rifts are gone. This concludes the A Rift in the Gerudo Desert quest, allowing you to continue with the main story!
