If you're trying for a long run in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Long Dark it's a good idea to change scenery regularly, or end up going stir crazy talking to the closest corpse. There are also certain regions that provide unique loot that is vital for gameplay. You don't want to be lugging around everything you might need constantly, so it's suggested you make at least one base in every region.

With twelve regions (not including transition zones) there's a lot to organize and decide upon, with each location having pros and cons to weigh up. This handy list is here to make the choice easier, and a little more fun than the obvious spots a veteran is likely bored by.

10 🌳 Forestry Lookout (Myste🍸ry Lake)

The Long Dark Forestry Lookout Mystery Lake

Mystery Lake is a region known for its suitability for beginners, with plenty of habitable buildings, abundant wildlife, and a railway track right down the middle in case you get turned around. This map also leads to four other regions, including Forlorn Muskeg which is the closest Furnace too. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:It's a great place to start a run, and for a change why n🐷ot try the new Forestry Lookout.

Long-time players may remember when the original lookout was toppled, but this new structure has a much better view and is totally central to the map. This is a huge bonus for those who stay on their toes and travel frequently. It has a bed and a stove, with limited dangerous wildlife spawning nearby. And you could always get the jump on them from this high, anyway. On Interloper weapons never spawn, but for everyone else, this is a Hatchet and Hunting Rifle spawn too. Think of that aurora panorama!

9 🐬 Burned Ridge Cave (Plea𓆉sant Valley)

The Long Dark Pleasant Valley Burned Ridge Cave Charcoal Map

We've all spent weeks inside the Farmhouse picking off the wolves as they endlessly spawn. For something a bit more challenging, check out the Burned Ridge Cave just south of the Crashed Plane wreckage. There is luggage to rifle through and corpses spawning endless feathers in this area, and the cave offers a reasonably safe outdoor location to cure pelts and saplings without the risk of Cabin Fever. There's even a chance for a Hunting Rifle in there, and a guaranteed leaf bed. Cozy.

Skeeter Ridge and Draft Dodger's Cabin are nearby if a blizzard rolls in. It's warm enough inside to stave off hypothermia and a great spot to rest going to or from Timberwolf Mountain.

8 Cabin (𝔉Coastal Highway)

The Long Dark Coastal Highway Cabin

You may have never stumbled across this peaceful hideaway just beneath the railway tracks into the Ravine. In a clearing surrounded by the mountain is a rabbit-filled glade, where a magnificent tree grows as well as some saplings and medicinal plants, an indo🌠or cabin sits at the edge, withꦏ a proper bed inside and a possible Polaroid spawn.

It's nothing fancy, there's not even a stove, but if you need a break from the grind of life and death gameplay, maybe this is the spot for you. It's in between the Fishing Camp and Log Sort, so you can spend time at th🦩e Workbenꦯch and hunting if need be.

7 Bricklayer's Retreat (Blackrock)

The Long Dark Blackrock Bricklayer's Retreat Lake Cattails

It's always a good idea to have a base near Ammunition Benches and Furnaces. In Blackrock, it makes sense to have a campsite on the prison grounds, but the constant packs of wolves (and their carcasses) can get tiresome. To the east is a picture-perfect home overlooking a frozen lake, for this map. Similar to the Mountaineer's Hut, it's a bit of a fixer-upper as the door has come off. But there's a bed, a fireplace, and the same underfloor storage as the aforementioned hut.

One major difference is that the Workbench is just outside, so staying warm while tinkering might be a little challenging. Feel free to pick off the abundant deer and rabbits, and harvest the Birch Sapling just to the north. It's even round the corner from Timberwolf Mountain, so is perfect for when you're traveling through regions.

6 ღ Waterfall Cave (Timberwolf Mountain𓂃)

The Long Dark Timberwolf Waterfall Cave And Map

Every run needs a trip up the great mountain itself, but for some, it's not a simple weekend trip. However, you can make it as far as Eric's Falls in the northwest without ever having climbed a rope (impossible when encumbered), just behind which is an indoor cave.

This shelf of the mountain has everything you could wish for (other than a Moose), and is two ropes from the summit (the absolute minimum). Why clamber up and down for days when you can fill this cave with your loot stash, and deploy a rope down to the Engine's shelf to access the cave to Blackrock? It's a great halfway house and a change of scenery from the Hut. The only downside is there's no Workbench and you have to BYOB, Bring Your Own Bed.

5 Milton Basin Cave (Mountain Town) 🦄

The Long Dark Mountain Town Milton Basin Cave Charcoal Map

This region is packed with housing in every form you could imagine. But who wants a whole house with a bed and a six-ring stove? Boring! That's why the best unusual place to base on this map is another cave. Climb down the rope behind Paradise Meadows Farm to get to Milton Basin. In the middle of the frozen lake are a couple of rocky islands, one of which has a steep path to a cave that is warm enough to dry the numerous pelts you'll gather.

There's no bear in this area to bother you, and once you've downed the Moose your food stores are good for the month. Aside from that, there are some lovely views, and it's a more natural part of Mountain Town.

4 Homesteader's Respite (Ash Canyon)

The Long Dark Ash Canyon Charcoal Map Homesteader's Respite

It's very possible you've never squinted up the mountain and spotted this house tucked away on a shallow ledge. There are roughly two elevations on this map, and the player needs to have navigated to the upper level to access this hideaway for the first time. One bridge over from Foreman's Retreat, the most popular base, is a cozy cabin with the best views over Bitter Marsh.

Once a rope has been deployed, the player has easy access to the only fishing hut on the map, along with an area full of wolves and a Moose to hunt. It's just somewhere a bit different you might never have visited.

3 Valley Cave / Lak🔯e Cave (Hushed River Valley)

lThe Long Dark Hushed River Valley Cave Map

Hushed River Valley famously has no manmade shelters at all, but plenty of toasty caves as long as you brought your bedroll. If you're going to stay here long term it's advisable to bring a Bearskin Roll and some premade arrows with you, as there isn't a single Workbench. The Valley cave is on the lowest part of the map, and beside the beautiful Twin Sister Falls that can throw up 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a double rainbow (what does it mean?) on a clear day. The Moose Overlook opposite the cave is perfect for all your hunting needs.

Head up one rope, and you're met with a huge frozen lake, brilliant for sneaking up on wildlife, and yet another Moose. The Lake Cave by the Watchful Falls is out of the way, but isn't that the point sometimes? Take a breather.

2 💃 Fallen Lighthouse (Bleak Inlet) ♐

The Long Dark Bleak Inlet Fallen Lighthouse

This base is for the more hardcore players looking for a challenge and real change. A broken structure may seem counterintuitive for long-term accommodation, and maybe it is, but with the Cannery Workers' Residences nearby it's not an issue if there's an emergency. The Lighthouse sits alone on an island overlooking the unfrozen sea, and has partial cover on the lowest floor.

There's a full bed and stove, as well as a good spot to set out Snares. The Fishing Hut will provide all the food you need, or hunt the Bear every 30 days or so. The main draw, especially for late game, is beachcombing. New items wash up every few days and can include non-renewable things like Saplings, Scrap Metal, Cloth, Prybars, and Arrows. Just be sure to pay attention to the Thin Ice.

1 Marsh🍸 Ridge Caඣve (Forlorn Muskeg)

The Long Dark Forlorn Muskeg Marsh Ridge Cave Map

From Milton Basin the player will arrive at Marsh Ridge, a wooded shelf overlooking all of Forlorn Muskeg from an angle rarely seen. To ꦿthe right is a warm cave with a fire pit, and to the left is an interior cave that connects to the Shortwave Tower.

Marsh Ridge has no predators, and the worst you can do is bother the resident Moose. It's a peaceful break from the constant harassment of Wolves and a good spot to practice stunning Rabbits or shooting Deer. There's a Furnace at the Old Spence Homestead for all your crafting needs.
