Flamehawk Studios is hoping to reinvent the edu-gaming genre with The Mechanical World of Dr. Gearbox – an upcoming turn-based RPG that's launching a demo during Steam Next Fest on October 1.
The educational RPG is hoping to push the envel𒁏ope when it comes to how parents, teachers, and other educators view games, and Flamehawk Studios definitely has the skillset to do just that. As a STEM.org-accredited development company, Flamehawk Studios is attempting to blend together "engaging, diverse characters, mythical creatures, a compelling story, and deep world-building with an educational turn-based battle system," to promote a variety of STEM-based topics.
"Where most contemporaries in the educational game space focus solely on teaching mathematics, The Mechanical World of Dr. Gearbox stands apart by offering a selection of 40 STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) lessons handcraft♛ed by academic advisors and story writers," the team announced. "Each lesson is woven into the gameplay in a way that promotes practical learning and keeps players fully engaged."
The story itself seems plenty entertaining, featuring an eccentric scientist, robots, and an intergalactic mystery that threatens to🎉 destroy the entire universe.
"The Mechanical World of Dr. Gearbox follows the story of aꦐ young child that innocently stumbles upon a hidden science lab. There, you’ll meet Dr. Phineas Gearbox😼, an aging scientist who spent his years exploring the world, inventing unbelievable creations along the way.
"Dr. Gearbox is in trouble, however. He’s lost two of his robotic lab assistants, which inadvertently caused an intergalactic disturbance that would leave the planet forever altered should it remain unresolved. You’ll set forth on an adventure with a trusty companion to track down and dismantle an untold number of portals before the earth is overrun with devious critters from dist💮ant realms."
Flamehawk Studios said the game will allow for deep character custo﷽mization, features several "collectible critters," dynamic turn-based combat, and four unique zones to explore that are based on real locations i🦹n North America.
Best of all, you won't have to wait long to try it out – The Mechanical World of Dr. Gearbox is heading to Steam Next Fest on October 1.
