Since the launch of the Switch in May 2017, Nintend𒁃o's latest handheld-and-home console hybrid has done exceptionally well in sales. This crossing of the 15 million unit mark in the United States officially marks the Switch as the most popular and best-selling video game console for the past consecutive months, according to the NDP Group, a research company that tracks video game sales in the country.
Games for the Switch have also contributed impressive sales for Nintendo. Fourteen Switch games have sold over one million units, with four even surpassing the six million mark (Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate). The latest Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros. titles๊ broke additional records as the fasting-selဣling games in their respective franchises.
This year's Switch releases have also accumulated large sales numbers, with popular releases such as Super Mario Maker 2, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, , and The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

This🍒 past July 2019, Nintendo announced the release of the Switch Lite, a portable version of the Switch console. The new device was fully compatible with all Switch games but featured a smaller console and that was completely dedicated to handheld play. While initial sales haven't been great, with the upcoming holiday season, there is a good chance those numbers could increase.
