I understand companies are playing cards closer to their chest these days thanks to the aforementioned long development cycles, but we already know about The Outer Worlds 2. The reveal has been done. We got an update on Fable, despite no release year arriving alongside it, while Clockwork Revolution was revealed with a release date to be announced “in good time”. While it’s logical to want to avoid a drawn out hype cycle like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Cyberpunk 2077’s almost decade-long wait from announcement to launch, The Outer Worlds 2 has been announced. We know it exists. Surely work has b🌞een done since the reveal, so an update shouldn’t have been a stretch.
It also can’t have helped that despite announcing The Outer Worlds 2, Obsidian’s focus has been split, with Avowed also in the works. That game did show up for Summer Game Fest and is clearly the priority, aiming for a 20🌼24 release date. Hopefully, The Outer Worlds can be hot on its tail.
The Outer Worlds is not a major hitter for Xbox. It sold five million copies, which isn’t nothing, but it’s less than half of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Fallout: New Vegas by the same devs. It was shorter than it should have been, with a whole planet rumoured to have been cut during development, and felt every inch the first attempt at the new series that it was. Unfortunately, The Outer Worlds is best remembered for getting mixed up with The Outer Wilds, the unique and absorbing indie title that most people preferred. In a way, nor should they - it’s healthy to maintain distance from media rather than wrapping up your identity in it. But not generating undying brand loyalty doesn’t mean it isn’t worthy of another go around, and🥂 I’m curious what The Outer Worlds 2 looks like.
There’s no immediate cause for concern. The first game launched in 2019, but was supported with DLC through 2020, so we can consider the 2021 reveal to be around the time development began in earnest, with the groundwork laid alongside the DLC. That means the game has been in the works for two or three years, which suggests a release date of 2025 or even 2026 when we add Avowed into the mix. There’s always a new event where fans need to be wowed, so a trailer with a release window at 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Game Awards or the next SGF seems the most likely - even Gamescom’s Opening Night Live might c♓ome too soon.
It’s also clear that Xbox wanted to stress the diversity of its roster, with all sorts of genres and art styles on display.
