If you liked the Not So Berry challenge, you'll probably enjoy the Chromatic Legacy Challenge. It's a more intense and difficult version of the same idea which was created by @maximumdino. This💝 guide contains a challenge overview and tips to help you complete it, .

Challenge Overview

An image of a Sims family tree going back five generations.

Unlike most Sims 4 challenges, the Chromatic Legacy challenge lasts fifteen generations. You must run a Sim through a specific scenario, give birth to an heir, and complete a set of tasks along the way. You're not allowed to use cheats, except certain career cheats when the challenge requires it, and you're supposed to play on normal lifespan.

Every generation, you're given a new set of rules that you must follow. For example, each generation has a colour, and you're strongly encouraged to decorate both your house and your Sim in that colour. You're also required to give your heir a specific set of traits, a certain aspiration, and a designated career.

This challenge is not base-game compatible. It's designed to give you a taste of everything the game has ꦚto offer, and that means using nearly every expansion and game pack. If you don't have a certain pack, you're allowed to fudge the rules and come🌺 up with your own challenge for the generation.

To get the most out of this challenge, you'll need Cats and Dogs, City Living, Get Famous, High School Years, Cottage Living, Nifty Knitting, Seasons, Snowy Escape, Island Living, Eco Lifestyle, Tiny Living, Discover University, and Parenthood.

Generation One: Bubblegum

A pink-haired woman in pink and white scrubs examines a cat with a red nose in a pink room.

Colour: Pink

Aspiration(s): Friend of the Animals, Soulmate

Career: Veterinarian

Traits: Vegetarian, Gloomy, and either Dog Lover or Cat L🎃over

In this generation, your objectives include starting and running a vet clinic, adopting at least one stray cat and one stray dog, and maxing the Pet Training, Herbalism, and Veterinary skills. You're also supposed to marry a Sim with the opposite Animal Lover trait.

You'll want to start working on your Veterinary skill before you open your clinic. It might be hard not to have the income, but you're less likely to make mistakes once you start treating pets. You'll also want to spend as few simoleons on your starting home as you can, because you need the simoleons to open a vet clinic, and you'll start with nothing.

Start with the items you'll need most: a Vet Podium, an exam table, a trash can, and basic living furniture for your Sim. The vending machine, medicine crafting table, and surgery station are all optional.

Generation Two: Lemonade

A sim with short yellow hair and a bright yellow suit is using the Secret Agent computer in a small yellow apartment.

Colour: Yellow

Aspiration(s): Computer Whiz, Super Parent

Career: Secret Agent (Diamond Agent)

Traits: Self-Assured, Family Oriented, Squeamish

In this generation, you'll start in a one-bedroom apartment or tiny house, and you're only allowed to move or expand when you become an adult. You're required to max the programming and parenting skills, and raise a happy child while working long shifts as a secret agent.

The challenge tells you to cheat the Computer Whiz aspiration, since you aren't allowed to join the Tech Guru career; but you'll have to do everything else the hard wa💞y.

Staying Focused for most of this generation can help you advance in your career and complete the Computer Whiz requirements. Drinking black tea, pondering chess moves, or doing your Intelligence Research will all help boost your Focused mood. You'll also want to work on your Charisma skill; you need friendships and romanti𓆏c relationships to advance your career after you become a Diamond Agent.

Generation Three: Cherry

A Sim with red hair, vivid red makeup, and a red dress with a fur collar stands in front of a bunch of red trees in Del Sol Valley.

Colour: Red

Aspiration(s): Master Actor, Joke Star

Career: Actor

Traits: Goofball, Outgoing, Romantic

In this generation, you're going to move to Del Sol Valley and become a world-renowned celebrity. You've got to max both Acting and Comedy skills. Cheat the Entertainer part of the Joke Star aspiration, as you're going to focus on your acting. On top of that, you're going to play through a small story for your love life.

You'll gain more fame with higher-ranked gigs, but if you want to take things slower for a while, you can take lower-ranked gigs to keep earning money in the meantime.

You'll want to focus on skilling up in the early parts of this generation. A lot of acting gigs require you to have a low level in Fitness, Guitar, Dance, or Charisma. Pick one or two skills (besides acting and comedy), and focus on them. Then, ignore the gigs you don't have the skills for.

Generation Four: Periwinkle

A sim in a blue shirt and a blue beanie playing guitar in downtown San Myshuno.

Colour: Indigo

Aspiration(s): Musical Genius, Admired Icon

Career: Musician/Social Media

Traits: Music Lover, Snob, Dance Machine

In this generation, you've got to become a famous musician, but struggle with your love life.

Start small, playing music in the city, and max at least three musical skills— singing, guitar, violin, piano, DJ mixing, or pipe organ. You'll also need to make at least 2 Trendi looks a week, and get signed by a record label. There's also an optional goal to get a star on the walk of fame. Finally, you've got to have at least five romantic relationships, with at least four ending on bad terms.

The easiest way to end a relationship on bad terms is to cheat on a romantic partner— play the field a little too enthusiastically, and make sure your sim gets caught. If you don't want to bring the drama, Complaining about things a lot or calling them at 1 AM can also do the trick!

Sims with the Snob trait tend to not get along with Childish, Freegan, or Goofball sims. If you🌜 want to make it 🌸easier to break up, pursue a sim with one of those traits!

Generation Five: Rose Gold

A sim with green-and-peach hair in a peach outfit, sitting in a peach rocking chair, knitting.

Colour: Peach

Aspiration(s): Master Mixologist (barista)

Career: Retail Business

Traits: Animal Enthusiast, Creative, Cheerful

This generation's a bit all over the place. You've got three main objectives: max your knitting/handiness and cross-stitching skills, become a master mixologist and max the barista career. You should also run a successful business selling either knitted or woodworked handicrafts.

You're going to want to move to Henford-on-Bagley, because the challenge requires you to do favours for the town's residents. We recommend that you max your Mixology skill and top the career, before you quit your job and open your handicraft retail business.

You're also supposed to have exactly three children, who must be triplets. The challenge allows you to cheat to make sure this happens; if you don't want to c💦heat, the Fertility perk and Born on a Ley Line lot traits can help.

If you're struggling to make enough handicrafts to stock your business, you can instantly make copies of any crafted item. These items won't sell for as much, and they'll be poorer quali🌠ty. But if your stoꦡck's flying off the shelves, they can keep you in business until you can make more.

Generation Six: Blueberry

A sim with blue hair, blue makeup, and a blue skirt suit sits in a chair in the Copperdale library, holding a book.

Colour: Blue

Aspiration(s): Friend of the World/Bestselling Author

Career: Law (Lawyer branch)

Traits: Ambitious, Perfectionist, Good

In this generation, "you're too busy helping the world to watch your children grow". As a child, you need to watch the news after school and always complete your homework; as you grow older, you need to max the Research and Debate and Writing skills, and take in a stray cat or dog. In addition, you need to always take the Work Hard option at school and work.

You'll neglect your personal life. Marry an Ambitious sim as a YA, grow apart from them as an adult, and become friends with them as an elder. Adopt at least one toddler, but hire a nanny to take care of all your children.

You're going to be working hard this generation— hard enough that you and your spouse can (optionally) earn the workaholic lifestyle without too much effort.

Research and Debate can help you out a lot here, as it has a surprising benefit: at level 9, you can call your boss and ask for a bonus.

Just make sure you level R&D at university. You can use research machines for free while you're a student, 💖but they'll cost you a pretty penny once you've left school.

Generation Seven: Bronze

Gen7_Bronze

Colour: Brown

Aspiration(s): Freelance Botanist, Outdoor Enthusiast

Career: Engineer

Traits: Loner, Loves The Outdoors, Overachiever

After that last fast-paced generation, you're going to slow down and spend some time in the great outdoors. As a child, your Bronze heir must get straight As in school, but move to a world away from your family and have a bad relationship with them as a young adult. You'll only have one child this generation, and you must be best friends with them.

To keep your relationship with your child high, spend as much time with them as you can, and perform positive interactions with them. If you have Parenthood, working on a school project with your kid can help raise their friendship with you and their school performance at the same time; if you have Growing Together, then teaching your child to ride a bike is an excellent (and cute!) way to ra♊ise your relationship.

You'll need to have a fully functional garden and max your Robotics, Flower Arranging, and Gardening skills, as well as obtain the Super Green Thumb and Early Bird traits from the Reward store. These are both pretty expensive reward traits, so you'll need to get a lot of Satisfaction by completing your Sim's Whims an♐d their Aspiration.

An easy way to cheese Satisfaction is to give your Sim a lot of Likes for music genres, and keep them in the same room as a radio at 🍰all times. They'll get a lot of whims to list♊en to Cottagecore or Summer Strut or what have you, you can instantly fulfill them, and they'll get a lot of Satisfaction.

Those earbuds you got for free if you own Fitness Stuff are also handy here.

Generation Eight: Violet

Gen8_Violet

Colour: Purple Aspiration(s): Extreme Sports Enthusiast, Bodybuilder

Career: Athlete

Traits: Active, Adventurous, Jealous

Time to pick up the pace again. In this generation, you're going to become an adrenaline junkie. You'll have to move to Mount Komorebi and challenge the mountain. You'll need to max your Fitness and Rock Climbing skills, as well as either your Snowboarding or Skiing skill. Lead at least three mountain expeditions, and have at least one tragic event happen in your life.

As if all that wasn't enough, you've got to keep many strong relationships. You have to have your parent attend all your baby's births and move them in from the time they become an elder to the day they die. You've got to have a close friend group of three or four sims from high school until death. And you or your partner must read your children to sleep every night.

If you're struggling to maintain your Sim's relationships, there are a couple of things you can do to make things easier on yourself. First, consider picking up the Professional Slacker reward trait as soon as you can. Professional Slacker means you can take as much unpaid vacation time as you want without losing your job; it's great for helping you spend some time catching up with friends. Second, multitask as much as possible. Hang out with your friends while at the gym, or invite your parent over for dinner. 💦Mixing things your Sim already has to do with social time means you waste a lot le💧ss time.

Generation Nine: Silver

A Sim in a silver kimono standing under a grey tori gate.

Colour: Silver/Grey

Aspiration(s): Mt. Komorebi Sightseer/City Life/Beach Life

Career: Salaryperson

Traits: Child of the Ocean, Foodie, Childish

This generation is all about taking in everything the world has to offer. You have to travel between at least three worlds — Mount Komorebi, San Myshuno, and Sulani— and complete each location's aspiration during one of your life stages. Every house you live in must be a tiny home, though you can choose whi𝄹ch tier you want to live in.

You have to complete a collection or learn all the San Myshuno food stall recipes. We'd recommend the food stall recipes, because all you have to do to complete the collection is buy and eat each food, and that's part of your aspiration anyway. You also must max your Charisma and at least three other skills. Logic and writing are good skills for a salary person, and if you want to follow the Expert career track, you want to max Programming as well. You also must have at least two flings in every world you live in. Ultimately, you'll settle down and raise your children in Sulani, finally taking it slowꦜ for the first time in⛦ your life.

If you can marry a mermaid and have your heℱir be a mermaid, ✅it'll make generation ten much easier.
