When High School Years released for , I spent a LOT of time with it. Not only was I 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:comparing it to my own life, but I loved what felt like a total overhaul for Teens. Be♓fore the pack, they were almost indistinguishable from Young Adults, but now that High School Years💜 is out, our teenagers can finally act their age.
And when it comes to high school, is there any event bigger than prom💟? It’s a staple in the US to gather yo✱ur friends, gussy up, and spend a night dancing, but how did prom in-game compare to prom IRL? I followed my legacy Sim, Shanna Darby, to the event to compare and contrast.
9 🔴 Looking The Part
I’m so jealous of today’s kids — between all the social media platforms, they can learn to do just about anything. With 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the ability to dress Shanna up, I gave her a full face of makeup, because I feel like she’d know how to do it. And even if she didn’t, there’d definitely be a tutorial out there for her.
Me, not so much. I curled my already curly hair, which I promptly tossed up haphazardly when I got hot dancing. For makeup, I did my regular emo, racoon-eye look, but with sparkly silver eyeshadow too, for some reason. It wasn&r✨squo;t blended, it wasn’t great, and it all muddled together by the end of the night. So envious that today’s high schoolers have beauty gurus to help them skip their awkward stages…
8 🐟 The Outfits 🃏
High School Years came loaded with everything you’d need for a successful prom, including a variety of new formalwear options. They can be worn by other age groups, but the dresses included are modern and tasteful. There are evening gowns, sequined bodysuits, and glam both vintage and new. If that's not your thing, there are patterned shirts, bedazzled jackets, and even a floral suit as well.
In 2011, we were notedly less glamorous. While Shanna went to prom in a low-cut sleeveless dress with an elaborate golden waistband, I, meanwhile, went in a big, burgundy evening gown with rhinestones. Our dresses were both pretty, but there was hardly anything as eye-catchin🗹g at my🅰 prom as that rainbow bodysuit.
7 Bringing A Date 😼
While Shanna had a crush on a girl in her class, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:t🎉hat girl didn’t feel quite the same way. She asked Shanna to go as friends, but so did Shanna&rs🍬quo;s childhood BFF. We all know friendships come first, so I chose the friend. They were glued together the entire evening, taking photos, dancing, and having fun… except for 📖when I went to the after-party without her on accident...
As for me, I also went to prom with my childhood BFF. We got to the event too early, so we left again to go to the convenience store next to the hotel where prom was being held. Because if your friend doesn’t want to drink extremely f𝔉ancy slushies with you all gussied up in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven, are they even really your friend?
6 Pre-Prom Party 🌊
With High School Years, one of your Sims’ classmates is liable to 💯call them and ask if they’d like to come over for a pre-party party before the actual prom. Shanna got a call fജrom a guy in her class she’d barely spoken to and agreed to head to his house with some friends. The kids spent the time eating quick meals, watching TV, and swimming.
Meanwhile, our pre-prom festivities were a bit different. Shanna and friends didn’t use the opportunity to help one another get ready, or take photos, or anything like that. I’ve got a hearty collection of shots of my best friend and I at the park by her house, staged in all manner of cliché𒀰 prom poses — no party, but better photo ops.
5 The Food
Interestingly, food in the High School Years prom is kind of an afterthought. If your Sim isn’t hungry and doesn’t get an event goal that instructs them to eat, you ꦏmight not even hit the buffet that night. Shanna skipped the peculiar number of roasted chickens on offer and wound up getting ice cream at the pier after the dance instead.
Not so for me. My sc⛦hool had the event catered, and before we got to the dancing, the entire class was called into an adjacent room to pile plates full of meats, pastas, salads, ve🦩ggies, and breads, with a dessert table available as well. My friend and I purposely didn’t eat before the event so that we could eat like queens thanks to the spread from catering.
4 ⛄ Prom Court
In High School Years, voꦫting for the Prom Court will likely be one of the goals your Sim gets for the event. You can vote for the Prom Royalty or the Prom Jester, and each will come with a crown you’ll be able to access in your household’s Create-a-Sim after winning. Shanna didn’t win either title (you do so by completing the goals before the awards are handed out), but both the folks s꧅he voted for did.
To me, Prom Court is kind of just an overblown popularity contest, and when you grow up as notedly unpopular as I did, you don’t expect to win. Congrats to the student council leader and the guy from the wrestling team who won ours — couldn't have been quiet, awkward old me.
3 ಞ At The Dance ꦑ
The main focus of prom, once you set aside the formality of it, is just letting loose and having fun with your friends one last time. And sin🔯ce Shanna was going to be aging up a few days after prom, I made sure to let her unwind. She spent the majority of the night dancing with her friends, socializing, and taking cheesy pictures in the photo booth. I wanted her to have one last hurrah before college, and she got it, indeed.
And this is maybe the first place in this list where Shanna and I were the exact same. I’ve got a collection of photos with friends before, during, and after the event that I still find endearing a decade later. I sweated half my makeup off and my hair was a frizzy mess by the time we l✃eft, but those, I think, are the signs of a fun prom.
2 Post-Prom
It’s quite likely that another Sim will reach out to you and ask you if you’d like to keep the party going once the actual 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Copperdale High prom ends at 11PM. Agreeing will land your Sim and a gaggle of their friends down at Plumbite Pier for some late-nigh𝓡t fun on the rides, grabbing ice cream, or just hanging out a little longer. Shanna went, but I forgot to select her date to travel with her. Oops.
I’m sure there were after-parties held by my classmates, but my friend and I opted out. We went to a diner in our evening wear, headed home to de-gla𒊎m, and had a sleepover wherein we ate snacks and watched TV until we passed out. Not the same, but still a good time.
1 𓂃 Final Thoughts ꦺ
Shanna arrived home feeling entirely fulfilled (okay, she needed a shower, but that’s to be expected aft🍎er dancing all night). She wasn’t exactly sentimental about the event, but she did gain lasting sentiments with her friends during the night.
Whereas I, on the other hand, was sentimental enough for both of us. My prom was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:two weeks before graduation, and as ready as I was to get out of my hometown and start my life, I still had the awareness that this was the beginning of the end of a ma😼jor era. Knowing this, I went to prom on a mission to make the most of the night, and I’d definitely say that I did.
Life gets busy, stressful, and complicated on the other side of high school, so it was nice for both me and Shanna ꧃to have one last chance to unwind with our grade school friends before walking off-stage at graduation and out into the real world. And I think both of us appreciated that chance.
