My Journey To Batuu

The first thing you need to know about this pack is that the main experience is completely separate from your regula🍎r game. Batuu is a vacation world and travel is done through your phone. However, unlike a regular vacation, there is no cost to go to Batuu and you can stay for as little or as long as you like. At this point, it's worth noting that time will pass in the regular world while you are away. This means that you will get bills and, unl🦋ess you tweak your settings, you'll find that events in your game, such as auto aging and pack specific events like NAP voting, will also continue.

Oga's Cantina, home to DJ R-3X and hangout of Hondo Ohnaka.

Once you've made your preparations you can pick up the phone and schedule a loading screen to take you to a galaxy far, far away. If you aren't quick enough you may get a phone call from a townie, prompting you to take the trip, alth෴ough they won't come with yඣou.

Join The Resistance!

When y🔯ou land on Batuu, you'll see three different neighborhoods, The Resistance Encampment, The First Order D🎃istrict, and Black Spire Outpost.

The First Order District is exactly what it sounds like. It is the First Orꦺder's main base, complete with TIE 🧔Fighter, supply crates, communications towers, and a building containing all their secrets and weapons. If you keep looking you'll, even spot Kylo Ren. There's also a store here that will sell you BB or R droids, as long as you have enough scrap metal and credits.

The Resistance Encampment is another self-explanatory district. Hidden in🍨 this forest are tents, an X-Wing, scattered supplies, and an underground bunker holding the Resistance's secrets. There's also a hidden cave at the back of the forest and a couple of familiar faces hanging out by that🔜 X-Wing we mentioned.

Just hanging out with Vi Moradi and Rey.

Black Spire Outpost is the final district and this is the heart of Batuu. Here, you can buy supplies, get your hands on a lightsaber, meet up with the scoundrels in Oga's Cantina, and fulfill your needs with food from Docking Bay 7 or Ronto's Roasters before you re🍎st and freshen up nearby.

If this seems overwhelming, you can follow the Star Wars aspiration and it will guide you down a narrative path completing quests for either the First Order or The Resistance. You can defect and change sides at any 🐼point, meaning completing both storylines on one character is possible. You can also scan major items around the area and a popup will tell you more about them, helping out none Star Wars fans.

Fo𒁏r those who want to be freer, you can take quests from the Scoundrels, including the oppor🥂tunity to fly the Millennium Falcon, or simply explore the world on your own terms.

The Great Divide

While build and buy mode contains a number of Star Wars-related items, as does create a sim, the main focus of this pack is the gameplay. As mentioned, you can follow one of three paths and each one has its own set of missions that appear in place of a job in your sims information. There's also a reputation graph that shows yo𒅌u where you stand with the three main factions.

Hugging Kylo Ren, it's a dream come true, but why can't I flirt with him?

The best part of the gameplay is that it is truly standalone. No part of the Star Wars universe will enter your main game unless you take it there. All build and buy items are safely in the catalog and create a sim choices safely in a separate wardrobe, meaning only Batuu townies wear them. Townies are also unique, so yo🦋u'll never see a Batuu townie in other worlds and vice versa, keeping the immersion strong.

You can take droids, lightsabers, and a variety of souvenirs into the reg🐎ular world, but these only travel in your sims inventory so they can be left on Batuu. Since Batuu doesn't even use the same currency system, relying instead on Imperial Credits, the two worlds are truly separate.

First Impressions

This is an alpha build, so some things may change, but so far this is looking like a unique and intere🏅sting pack. You will recognize many mechanics from other content but the repurposing of these simply means this pack has crammed in more than would be possible otherwise.

Create a sim includes clothing for all ages, even toddlers.

Flying ships works like the rocket ship experience we have already, while other aspects of the quests utilize Jungle Adventure's temple exploration mechanics. However, there are also plenty of unique new ways to play, especially once you have a droid or lightsaber. Sad💙ly you have no c🍌ontrol over the lightsaber battles, but this is to be expected since The Sims 4 has never had combat systems.

The only other thing so far that really stuck out is that currently, the world is uജneditable yet the only place you can pee, shower, and eat is Black Spire Outpost. While this makes sense in some ways for The First Order, surely The Resistance would🥃 have a place to eat, pee, and get clean, alongside their tents? There isn't even a bush. Your needs will replenish a little when you travel, but for storytelling, it would be fantastic if you could meet your basic needs in the woods, in order to stay in the camp longer.

Despite this, the pack is shaping up to be an interesting exper☂ience that I'm looking forward to exploꦺring more of.
